No I wouldn't want the Lightning event to return.
It came twice and the second time nobody did it, I watched area's were empty and people shouting for help with the fates cause only 1 or 2 people were doing it.

The other reason it was cool the first time, now its time to move on, I was sick of the events FFXI did because they were the same things over and over again with +1 gear and sometimes we would get something new which was rare.

FFXIV has done it correctly giving us something new each time, I am hoping when they release FF7 for ps4 that we get a final fantasy 7 event crosses fingers.

If I were you all i would be asking for the stuff to be added to the store instead of the event.

They say lightning can strike twice and she already did.
