The half-breed thing isn't an Elezen thing either, it's an Eorzean thing. If you never checked out the starter NPC dialogue from Wanderer's Palace Hardmode, a mixed race couple was basically shunned out of their hometown for being a mixed race couple.

Ishgardian nobles/soldiers and Gridanian soldiers are stoic. The average citizen isn't.
I thought the couple outside WP:HM were shunned because they were gay. At least that's how it seemed to be worded when they were telling their tale.

Gridania and Ishgard are, by lore standpoint, Elezen at its base. Number of quests in Gridania have Elezen NPC's sometimes espouse that they are upset that they share land with non-Elezen, and that one particular Elezen in the archer line who doesn't think any non-Elezen, and even non-native born Elezen, have what it takes to be a good archer. Ishgard from its foundation up is Elezen, non-Elezen's typically live in the slums, and are tolerated but not respected in any way, as NPC's will tell you about the Elezen nobles that sleep with a hyur then toss them to the street like days old lunch. The only NPC in the game that has been halfbreed is Hilda, and they call her a mongrel, openly.

So, yeah, same mentality as Viera.

It is not the same mentality. Elezen are your typical elves that see any other race as inferior. Viera don't follow this mentality. Viera see anyone who doesn't stay in the forest (in a bunny/animal type of way) as betraying the forest. Elezen is a disrespect for anyone based on race and ancestry. Elezen outright dislike people unlike them. Viera believe the best place in the world is the forest, that's where their pride lies. It's nothing Holy See or about hating how Hyur is an inferior race.

A Ronso-like race is still very "human" proportion and physique-wise. And won;t be too difficult to program gear and hairstyles on. Having something like Amal'jaa, Vanu Vanu, etc would be much more difficult
ronsos are big human lion/tiger/car humanoid, that a bit doublon with miqote that are cat people, right?

    From a poster earlier:

They also have half breeds that are discriminated against (See Hilda in Heavensward)! The Exiled - "Fran states this variety of viera are often called "the Exiled" as they are seen as abominations by their full-blooded kin."
Guess they do look down on other races.

From what I remember it is actually like all our playable races (yes, all playable races) they look down on half breeds (heck, in Eorzea half breed Moon Keeper/Sun Seeker are considered bad, one of the ultimate insults you could level at a Highlander is that they could possibly be half Roegadyn and so on). Basically, in Hydaelyn as in Ivalice, they do not look down on the pure races themselves, but on the mixing of races.

When I played the Viera quests in FFXII I didn't really get the full "Eruyt=Gridania" comparison. For one, the Viera acts out of love for the Wood, which nurtures those who listens to the Word, and simply does not aid the ones that doesn't (though if there has been recent unrest, it will make things harder as it tries to protect the Viera; when Vaan's party arrived, it was soon after Mjrn disappeared together with imperial troops. Had the Wood usually been so hard to traverse, Fran would have likely told them to take another route). Heck, the Viera might find living without the Wood and Word incomprehensible, but when moogles settle to make business at the entrance of their village, and when Vaan runs around and being Vaan, they let them, and even show gratitude when Vaan aids them with their troubles (though they don't seem to quite know what to make of him, lol).

Basically, the Viera that have never left the Wood and been at least temporarily severed from the Word cannot comprehend other races, but they do not necessarily look down on them in the same way they look down on Viera (or part Viera) who no longer hears the Word. This is most shown in Viera that have left the Wood (Fran, Ktjn, Krjn are prominent examples, though even Mjrn, who still hears the Word, wants the Viera to aid the other races). Ktjn, for example, values Vaan's judgement of her abilities and way of life, and is the happy either working in a guild lead by a moogle, or happy working in a store for a bangaa by the end of her quest. The closest thing to an insult that I can remember any Viera toss at the other races was Jote's insult towards Fran, something like "your ears have grown deaf by listening to their harsh voices" in reference to how Fran no longer hears the Word.

Meanwhile in Gridania, everything is motivated by fear of the Elementals, and what the Elementals will do to them if outsiders offend them (the Viera has no such fears, if offensive outsiders appear, the Wood will protect them, not disown them and drive them underground). Sometimes is is motivated by bigotry and justified as some nebulous "fear of Elementals".

    yea miqo'te are uninspired too.
I would rather play a beastly race. Bangaa, or the Firrans from Arche Age.
I would so love to see another two tribes of the miqo'te who looked more like this. o.o Some sort of plains and jungle types.
...When/if lore could call for it I mean. 'Cus that matters. Cough. Or, it should (have).

Well, if we continue to ask for Viera. Square Enix will have to consider them, it's what the players want. Not to mention, back before 2.0, they did a poll and people reacted favorably to the concept of a race like the Viera, in fact they name dropped them and believed it influenced the votes heavily.

I don't really think a beast race would be suited or proper for the game. However, I wouldn't mind more of a furry humanoid race, which would really suit the game and wouldn't be too hard to make armor models for.

Those who say Viera look like Elezen with bunny ears are silly. Their bodies and faces are completely different, where elezen have a kind of caved in face the Viera have a completely pushed out face.

Instead of a "beast" we can have a more animal look to them like this.

A mix between both of these, where the faces are longer or more bunny-like.

Please no. All our little-bit-beastly options are teeny tiny girls. That Viera are tall women is the reason why I want them to be in FFXIV.
