I'm still going to stand by my point that the Viera's aren't adding anything new to FFXIV (SE will make them look similar to a current race), aside from rabbit ears (which can already be purchased) and weird digitgrade feet (which is pretty much the only argument against playable beastmen).

Modifying headgear to fit snouts. Modifying more than the foot-part of the footgear (since the shape is the same by formed differently + heels) as well as the legwear (true digit-grade feet are far more different, and changes both feet and legs significantly). That's assuming that the deformation of the spine to balance the legs+feet would not change the base skeleton enough to require a full refit of all the gear.

Don't get me wrong, I want Ronso and Bangaa and Hummingway as well, but there is a lot more work in creating and maintaining those races than in creating Viera.

Oh, and Gold Saucer Bunny ears look really fake with those seams running down the middle.

I've been wanting them to add this race for along time as well. I was so excited when they showed this only to have gone with Au Ra...

    Please add them SE!

I hope when they add Viera, they add in the thongs. How else would they compete with all the miqo'te otherwise?

Female Au Ra, Miqo'te (and Midlander Hyur) sharing the same silhouette sure, I could say the same with Mithra and Hume.

The Viera part I highly disagree on, like the others have said.

I have also pointed out before how each of the races are different from each other aside from their racial features.

people ask for a monster/beast race, without take in account the amount of work it will recquire to adapt all the armor of the game to them.... between the robe, skirt and stuff like this, depending of the stance of the race it can be simply impossible and will ask to create new armor from old content for them.

as the time pass you are less and less likely to see a race as the ronso, vangaa and such arrive in the game. ronso will be silly with the miqo'te, it will be 2 felide race.

between wanting it and they can do it, it's a whole world, don't forget that the FF14 team haven't changed while the game is now played by more of 4.000.000 people, when it was normally counted for about 500.000 people. they maintain an extrem rythm of patch and plan to add expansion every 1.5-2 years. the amount of content release is simply insane if you think about.

sadly SE HQ think it's better to sink Millions and Million in FF15, that are not sure to make a success, while they have a game that succed enough for save them! and leave the team that work on it not get more manpower nor more support for the hardware upgrade. becase that the truth, they get tons of cash from FF14 but if you have 30% that are reinvest into it, you are lucky.

Arguably because they're both "pure" areas in the world, especially if you're super biased for the Elezen of those areas. ... Go figure that the Viera also follow the "Green Law", kinda similar to the Elementals of the Black Shroud or the Ishgardian Holy See.

"This is against their law, referred to as the "Green Word," which forbids contact with the outside world. According to Jote, Fran's sister and the leader of the viera who remain in Eruyt Village, once a viera breaks this law, they are considered viera no more and are regarded as outcasts." I don't know about you, but that sounds judging as heck.

They also have half breeds that are discriminated against (See Hilda in Heavensward)! The Exiled - "Fran states this variety of viera are often called "the Exiled" as they are seen as abominations by their full-blooded kin."

Also, Elezen are stoic as heck, especially the Ishgardian ones.. Suppressed emotions are kinda a general "thing" with people heavily ingrained in religious cultures like the Elezen of Ishgard and Gridania. And a quote about the Keepers of the Moon (Because you brought up the Miqo'te being a "happy" race) "The Keepers are known for their reticent and brooding personalities, but are also respected and sometimes feared for their tenacity."

They're just way to similar for the Elezen in both stature, attitudes, lore, et cetera.

I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization

See my thread about equalizing the heights for men and women of each race! http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/253435-A-suggestion-regarding-height.

Gridania/Ishgard =/= Elezen. Laws/appreciation apply to all who live there. Everyone born there has more or less the same regard for outsiders. Elezen just happened to settle in the Black Shroud first.

The half-breed thing isn't an Elezen thing either, it's an Eorzean thing. If you never checked out the starter NPC dialogue from Wanderer's Palace Hardmode, a mixed race couple was basically shunned out of their hometown for being a mixed race couple.

Ishgardian nobles/soldiers and Gridanian soldiers are stoic. The average citizen isn't.

In terms of physique, I don't see how different a Ronso is to a Highlander/Roegadyn. To make it easier for the devs, they can just remove the claws and maybe them flat-footed.

A Ronso-like race is still very "human" proportion and physique-wise. And won;t be too difficult to program gear and hairstyles on. Having something like Amal'jaa, Vanu Vanu, etc would be much more difficult

Another way for Beastmen to be playable is if SE create a 'Beastman glamour' thing of sorts. That way they won't have to redesign clothing and such (most they would need to do is give the beastmen the same animations for attacks/cooldowns).

If they did that, then I honestly wouldn't care if Viera were added at all.
