Viera can be different from Miqo'te.

I think one of the reasons the developers don't want to include Viera is that they look too much like Miqo'te and other races. However, if their bodies were covered with fur, but still humanoid I would imagine even with different facial features they could work and be successful as a race.

And the argument can be made that Au Ra aren't that different from Miqo'te either... It's just another humanoid animal mix like the Miqo'te.

Let's be honest that's all they're ever going to give us in terms of race, more humanoid / animal mix in some way. Otherwise they'd have to remodel all of the gear lol

Honestly, I don't understand why they went with Au Ra instead of recycling a race they already had. Not that I don't think they're okay- its just that they aren't...as I put it, 'diverse' enough to be there.

By that I mean its just a Hyur/creature splice. Elezen, Lalafell and Roegadyn have widely differing physical makeups that make them incredibly unique while still being somewhat human-ish. Miqo'te are there for token cat people fanservice , but could have very well been Veira instead (if I read correctly, they were originally female-exclusive).

...then again, maybe its the similarity that made SE go with another race instead. So scale people.

The only way we are ever going to get the viera is if they take the miqote or au ra body, remove the scales/horns/ears and give them bunny ears. Mark my words, if Viera is going to be released, its going to be a female miqote minus the tail and with bunny ears. Maybe they are a little bit taller, but everything else will be the same.

I can not wait untill we grab a picture of female hyur, female miqote, female au ra and female viera and see how much alike they are.

A lot of people would love viera, I believe (the only naysayers I've seen have been the ones who want a beastly race, but with how this game handles gear, that would take twice or thrice as much development as making human-with-ears/horns/tails, which make them a bit less likely. Especially since this extra development would continue through the lifetime of the game, and only benefit those who play this one beastly race), including me.

But only if it means tall women with long, graceful limbs and big clawed hands and feet, and not a race in which the women basically are turned into short waifs (one of the proposed concept arts made me worried that they're trying to make something akin to a Lala'qote, but with an even shorter height than Auri females) while the guys are made as beastly as possible within the gear limits.

Please, don't add Vieras. Adding it to FFXIV will ruin the Ivalice Alliance timeline since Vieras are exclusive to Ivalice.
