You wouldn't be surprised how many times I ask if everyone knows the fight just to wipe due to nobody doing the mechanics. Every little thing that decreases number of disbanded runs is a good thing and it would be also easier for console users who can't as easily alt-tab to read up strategies.

Of course you don't have to write guides when there are already dozens, but there is always the possibility to write a guide for new content, or write guide for specific role.

The goal in game design is not to make things smooth or easy, but to make it engaging. If the developers design their game around your quoted philosophy here, the game would no longer be engaging. There needs to be the chance of failure and part of that includes withholding information from players. Imagine a horror game that told you ahead of time "There will be a monster that jumps out on your right just up ahead" or a puzzle game that tells you the answer to the puzzle as you're trying to solve it. The player needs to have the chance to be scared, surprised, the chance to think on their own, or the game won't hold their interest. The same is true of FFXIV.

That's going to happen no matter what you do when you have random people involved. Just accept the fact that there will always be bad players and some can't be helped. If you are going to take raiding seriously, then you wouldn't be using the DF for them. Even in a multiplayer game, I don't need to be treated like a baby that can't think for himself. If I need help, then I have so many choices to pick from. It's not the end of the world if you suffer a wipe every now and then.

I migt be too old, but wiping for several hours on one boss till you beat it always seemed like a part of MMORPG experience. Now players disband right after first wipe and that's difficult to understand. They rather wait for a new group, which in my opinion quite often takes longer than letting newbies learn the fight and that's kinda sad.

Just yesterday, after only one wipe I been left alone in A1, and I had to ponder about "finding new members option". The feature exists to get new members, but if you click it in an empty instance, it kinda feels like doing something wrong, because most of the players leave right after they join in.
