Under Silvertear Lake is the portal to Zodiark-world a la IX's Shimmering Island.

I feel the same about Lucia and Aymeric. However, because of what VargasVermillion posted above, and what I remember quite similarly, I think it could be a little different with those two... Heck, from the very moment I've seen that cutscene for the first time I thought 'wtf, did he just ordered her to his BED? oO'

Ehh... without context, it's hard to say. This was the first we'd seen of the Garleans in a long while (excepting Gaius' grand entrance with the Ultima Weapon against Garuda). There are any number of things it could have been, from privately reprimanding her for her behavior at the Waking Sands to discussing battle plans. The whole, uhh... y'know bit is just the quickest conclusion people will jump to. For reasons.

Headcanon: Lahabrea isn't dead for good, just trapped in Nidhogg's eye. When we destroy the dragon once and for all and save Estinien, Lahabrea will escape and either A.) Return to wherever the main base for Ascians is in order to recover (possibly without our character knowing he has done so), or B.) Reveal that he is using Estinien as his new host body, meaning we have to save him...again.

Though this time we might not be able to do so without harming/killing him...though either way it will partly be because Estinien regained enough control for us to land the true killing blow.

I have one better. Lahabrea was released after the defeat of the summoned Thordan, and he wandered shapelessly until—he found a familiar body, albeit in non-corporeal form. Poor Thancred, can't catch a break. Y'shtola may be able to see Ascian aether, so Lahabrea has avoided using magic. The WoD was already well aware of this, which is partially why they left abruptly.

Because those are, to the surprise of absolutely no one on the Lore forum, my favorite.

We had a thread about it a while back, but I'm terribly fond of the idea that the WoL will have to use the Echo to intrude on their shared mindspace and break apart Nidhogg and Estinien, since it's unlikely that just beating up Nidhogg's body will miraculously free Estinien. At least I hope it won't, that's just silly. I see Lahabrea as still existing in this same mindspace in-between that you enter. He's not able to directly influence either of them, but also unable to leave until you unintentionally free him with your intrusion.

Honestly, I have ideas past that but I don't want it to come off as fanfiction-y. I don't really think he'll possess Estinien, though. That seems strange to use again.

Related to this and the thread, Midgardsormr did not seem to have influence over your Echo when he shrouded your Blessing. Theoretically, that would also include a lack of power over Ascians - and a vulnerability to them, since you could resonate with Hraesvelgr well enough. I'm not sure if we'll ever go in this direction, because possession doesn't actually seem to be an easy thing when the host is willful, but it would be interesting to see, maybe not in Middy but one of the others.

I actually am hoping Lahabrea is alive in the eye and freeing Estinien will free Lahabrea too. However part of this is I think Elidibus is really dodgy even towards the other Ascians and I think it would be cool if Lahabrea unexpectedly returning from the dead caught Elidibus out on a plot creating tension among the Ascians.

I guess if we're going full crackpot and not just head-canon, my total crackpot would be that the WoDs come from an AU and that Ascian they killed was the cutscene of their AU you (eg how you were a Spitewarden in the true FFXI world), hence the mocking "Warrior of Light" bit. Because to them, you being called the Warrior of Light is a mockery.

Didn't I already post a similar theory on the first page (though that speculated more on the nature of the AU world itself)?

I took it as Gaius being Gaius, and needing to have some alone time gazing at his big, strong mighty Weapon before feeling up to the task of entertaining female company.

Possibly, I didn't meant to step on any toes or take your crackpot, so apologies, ha. I don't really want to speculate on the AU nature of the world yet.
