I'm not a programmer, but the games you've listed as "working better than this" are all single-player games. One would think, that it's easier to optimize memory usage for pre-scripted character models for certain areas, unlike in a massively multiplayer game, where any model can appear in any place in the game. You know, in Oblivion for example, all the town guards wear identical armors in one town, thus the game only loads one model when you enter the area.

FFXIV coding seems to have major issues and flaws, this is nothing new. The official game benchmark is considered as a joke. Nevertheless, i only brought up one solution, that satisfied my needs for smoother gameplay. I have a quad-core, SLI-enabled and all watercooled and overclocked system, and i was still stuttering in crowdy places, before i installed FFXIV to a separate SSD. Whether you spend money to upgrade your platform or not, is entirely up to you.

As an answer to your offtopic question; Yes, you can lvl all jobs with one character. You just need to buy the initial/starter tool/weapon for that class from a town npc. Currently there are no restrictions which ones you can "master", as you can grind them all to the lvlcap of 50, if you please.

Yes it's true. They are single player games but they load a lot more stuff and larger files, both of them. The problem is that this game barelly uses VRAM and GPU power, look at the images at the bottom of the previous page.

I'm sure if it used the graphics card as it should there would be a major performance boost, generally speaking.

I have played MMORPGs such as AION, Guild Wars, Age of Conan (where AoC was another example of poor optimization, still it wasn't stutter bug bad framerate, but they fixed it, however it took some time). The only game that had stutter was AION, but ONLY when i was in a area where there were enemy players near, which honestly wasn't a bug but a feature, that way i knew there was someone with higher lvl trying to kill the opposite "faction". There were places with a LOT of players a never noticed stutter, sure the game doesn't have the same quality but there were a lot of people. In sieges there was a major framerate drop, but that's because the amount of people there was insane, again not stutter.

I think SE should really look into fix the performance of the game if they want to populate the game, because right now it's unbelievable i can't play the game even on standard with my PC. Again don't forget that this game barely uses the graphics card, dunno why.

If this team fails, most likely will be the end of the game. It's really a shame because i'm a fan of Final Fantasy for several years, and i don't feel like playing Xi because i don't like it's graphics and play style.

Anyway, i hope there's an improvement in terms of performance in the next patch.
