Just as a nitpick, GigaBITSper second is different from MegaBYTES per second. It's not as simple as moving the decimal place place a couple places to the right. 8 bits = 1 byte, so if you want to get the true throughput, convert the Gigabits into Megabits, then divide by 8.

    1.5 Gigabits (Gb with a lowercase b) = 1500 Megabits (Mb with a lowercase b) / 8 = 187.5 MB (what we're all familiar with)
    3.0 Gb = 3000 Mb / 8 = 375 MB
    6.0 Gb = 6000 Mb / 8 = 750 MB

As you can see, SATA II is sufficient for most $100-$150 lower end SSDs, while SATA III may be necessary for high end SSDs that would put strain on a SATA II controller. However, what SSDs, as another poster eloquently pointed out, are good for in FFXIV is not for the raw read/write speeds, but the very low seek/access times for random file access, which FFXIV does a LOT of. Even a low end SSD would help with this, as long as you get one with low access times (which unfortunately, usually is feature of the higher end more expensive SSDs).

    I have 450GTS
    3core 2.60ghz
    4GB DDR2
I can play in high setting with DOF without issue and without lag in the city the only type of lag i get in the city is when you first start the game then it stop. There a few lag here and there but that a issue sense i played beta1.

I hope SE fix this i don't think getting a SSD is even worth the money just to fix this issue.

How is it that wiki states otherwise?

SSD's have come a long way since I've last read up on them, some have gotten faster. For the longest time, there was no noticable throughput difference, just latency speeds. Maybe I'll invest in one of those 60gb ocz's, $90 isn't bad if it's going to give me that kind of performance increase.

After reading a bit, it looks like that page is not consistent with other sources. Your hard drive is only listed at 285MB/sec read and 275MB/sec write.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227551

    Even ocz's site says less:
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-sol...i-2-5-ssd.html

And that says up to. What are people getting when they're actually tested?

Test sites show 465MB/sec sequential read, 450MB/sec sequential write, but random read/write at 202MB/sec and 135MB/sec respectively. And random is the real test, because that's what happens in real life.

    Yeah, I don't think you'll be saturating your sata2.

Oh for crying out loud. It would seem that i have failed to locate even my own SSD on that list.

I was wondering why the one you linked had different coloring, and a different brand. Mine is AGT3-25SAT3-120G, number 398, and NOT SLD3-25SAT3-120G, number 401, like i previously posted.

I'm terribly sorry for this embarrassing confusion. I organized the list according to SSD capacity to find my drive faster, and i must've copied from the wrong line.

But i'm still confused about the maximum SATA transfer speeds, are they stated wrong in Wikipedia?
