I agree. I play games because I want to get away from bad things in real life so I can forget about them.

Awareness of what, that ice is cold? That you're a cold person? Few people did the ice bucket challenge right.
Put it in the cash shop for $10 where all proceeds go to the Red cross.
I don't think this is a good idea. If you want to show solidarity(and there have been events done by fcs for this) , there are far better ways to go about it than a game title drawn from real life events.
I've nothing against showing support for the French people during this difficult time, I just don't think we need to throw in dev code for something community support is already doing, to greater effect and purpose.

It was to raise awareness for ALS... -_-;; the point of it was donate $100 or dump a bucket if ice water on your head and donate $10, posting it on youtube.Awareness of what, that ice is cold? That you're a cold person? Few people did the ice bucket challenge right.
This is like "walk for hunger" or "walk to stop cancer" walking doesn't help cancer patient...... walking doesn't help the hungery..... What it does do is raise awarness that this exists and events become bigger. I'm happy the ice bucket challenge went viral people from all over the world did it, to help raise awarness for it.
I wish similar stuff happen with autism, did you know not every theripist or behavioral clinic studies it, or even believe it exists?
I got diagnosed with aspergers recently, and getting help to better understand it has been an uphill battle.
1 thing i think we players can do is compile videos from the various vigils and upload it on youtube and dedicate it to the lives lost in the terror attacks. then have everyone like it to show support.
If i was online when it happen, I would joined, cuz france doesn't deserve a terror attack, no country does.

I agree that pulling the unfortunate and tragic crimes of reality into a world of fantasy is tasteless and is borderline insulting.
I'm not having a go at you OP or anyone who (enjoyed? participated in?) in game vigils, but providing actual real life aid to the people who need it is a far better use of time and resources. SAYING you stand as one has its limited value yes, but I can't help but feel most of these shows are only for show.
There is a lot of satirical comments on the trend of the 'show' for support (See: Recent Southpark episode for an example) but this is a XIV forum and I feel my comments are now breaching into off topic territory so I will finish here.

Given to players who contributed to the Square Enix Tohoku Earthquake Crysta Relief Fund.
SE has done it before! But this was extremely close to home ^^
I would not ask SE to do such a thing again as I find it improper to hold them to any sort of obligation but I thought it will be an interesting fact for those who didn't know about it
