That isn't what I had in mind at all, but I can very well see from the backlash I've gotten how good of a point you make.
I can see you mean well but as people have mentioned, it'll be abused. Not only that but if you think about it, most people who went to the vigil went because they wanted to show solidarity, not for fame. I for example have a friend living in Paris (who thank goodness is safe according to their actions on Facebook). I was showing support for her and truth be told I feel the option of a title would cheapen what it is we stood united for. Maybe if they offered a fundraiser and offered the title for donations (say maybe minimum £10), then that could work. Those that donate just for the title are still supporting the efforts that way. It's also not going to be abused as a result.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Or those that didn't either 1 know the vigils were going on...or two the server they play on didn't even have one apparently. In addition to the logistical difficulties you mention, it's kind of unfair to those who weren't awake for the vigils, and/or were directly affected by the events happening not just in Paris but also in Mexico, Japan and Lebanon. I understand the sentiment, but if you're truly concerned about what happened, a title will do it no justice, only action.
Now, that said, if SE wanted to do a fundraiser of sorts to help people, and to reward people with titles and the like, that would be the right kind of action that everyone would have an equal opportunity to participate in.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
This would not go down well. Not only for the reasons people have already listed but you also need to think about the future. Do you make a title for every real world event? The Paris attack wasn't the only event that happened that day. Should there also be a title for that? Sydney Siege? It goes on etc etc. It's a very slippery slope and should be left out of the game world in terms of content.
Conversely it could become the title of choice for anyone who donates to a Square Enix fundraiser for things like earthquakes and terrorist attacks. Perhaps to differentiate between them you could have a little minion that shows off the event we stood in solidarity for (so for the Paris attacks, perhaps have a French flag)This would not go down well. Personally I feel that for those who were there to participate in the vigils, this is the sort of thing you just do, because it's the right thing to do, and not because you're looking for some kind of reward or recognition. To ask for a reward for participating in a vigil seems quite disrespectful to those who were involved or lost loved ones in the actual event or were otherwise effected by it. Not that lack of an in-game reward would stop people from seeking attention, but SE shouldn't be asked to validate them by turning it into a status symbol which would end up cheapening the message sent to the victims the next time an in-game vigil type event might happen.
Since I kinda don't like to put irl matter to games, I honestly want to say that I disagree with this idea sorry :/
the ice bucket challenge was not only to raise money but awarness. Which it did, even yoshida did it TWICE.
In lite of the topic, come things better left alone, and this is 1 of them If anything SE could make a charity And have a title tied to it where funds collected are sent out to nations of attack to help their families effected.
Pretty much the world situation, there is so much more you could do in this world if you legitimately have the heart to do something.
Sitting online in a game isn't a situation where your can be valued if you're truly wanting to help.
