I would like bunny boys. Listen, wanting to play a fugly manbearpig race is a very niche interest. Bunny people or... playable moogles pls!

Viera are a trademark race of FFT, not only that, they are really important for Ivalice Alliance and this games just draws so much from it that, why the hell not.
For lore, there is tons of places where they can come and be justified from, speciallu that misterious continent to the west of Eorzea. So, for that we have a lot and more than enough to get them. As for how male Viera might get implemented, there are some nice drafts arround about them, i think this race could perfectly fit XIV. Besides all races are quite human-like and honestly, even if we got the Au Ra, we need a more bestial looking race. Vieras totally covered in fur could perfectly do it, think about them as more elegant and slim Charrs from GW2.
Speaking of which... VEGETABLE PEOPLE! SILVARY! LETTUCE PEOPLE! WE NEED!

Everyone knows Vieras could be different. Yoshi just made a poor excuse to say no. Au Ra is basically a fem hyur with horns, skin pallete change and an elongated spinal cord with no fur. males are elezens with everything I just said. Viera's have a special foot structure where their ankles are heightened like bunnies making them great dragoons, some even have natural claws. Their ears extend to at least 4 feet in the air making them stand out among the crowd and doesn't get swallowed up by head gear like Miqote's do. Its a perfect addition to FFXIV race selection, they just don't want to. -_-I think one of the reasons the developers don't want to include Viera is that they look too much like Miqo'te and other races. However, if their bodies were covered with fur, but still humanoid I would imagine even with different facial features they could work and be successful as a race.
This is exactly what I'm trying to say as well. People that say that Viera look like Miqo'te but with bunny ears instead, are clearly blind or have no feel for aesthetics at all. What made every race different from each other despite being all humanoid is not only the racial features (Hyur being human, Elezen being elves, Miqo'te having cat ears and tail, etc.) but their proportions, facial features, animations and emotes. Overall, their characteristics.
It's very easy to tell a character's race just from close inspection. Heck, someone can tell if someone's character is a Miqo'te, Male Roe, Lala, Au Ra etc just at first glance.
Even if Au Ra are just "Hyurs with horns, scales and a tail", all they have in common is being humanoid. Their facial features, animations and etc. are very, very different.
I don't see how Viera couldn't be different from Miqo'te just because they both have animal ears. If they can give other races different characteristics that separates them from each other, I'm sure they can make the same with Viera.
This pretty much ^^What I like about Viera is that they're a proud race. Not like Elezen that are only proud in their wealth and believe in god/the church.
Viera is proud of the jungle, of being clean of corruption, and being quiet/they're not there to judge others. While Elezen will tell you you're a bad lala or a bad Hyur. Viera will not judge and will speak with actions.
There's no race like them. While Miqo'tes are wild they're not people of nature like Viera are. Miqo'te are a migratory/free race that settles in all the corners of Eorzea and adapts to all the city states. Personality wise they're night and day...Miqo'te are a happy race, Viera is stoic/reflexive race (it acts based on instincts).
This^^
They are the cutest creatures ever (in real life).
Exactly!!The defining traits Viera have, like the hind legs is still possible to be left alone if implemented in FFXIV. Their FFXIV concept art having the hind legs still, and that playable characters wear sandals with high heels by default that it would be a bit easier to work gear with a Viera's feet that way.
Also the massive proportion difference didn't stop Lalafells and male Roegadyn from existing.
Another solution SE could do is, just leave the Viera on barefoot but have their Legs covered with armor instead and or have them different colored toenails (claws) that matches with their leg armor.
Same can be done with their hands, leave their hands and claws as it is but cover their arms instead and or have them different colored claws that matches with their arm armor.
They can also solve this issue, by giving the hands and feet a little tattoo that covers the hands and feet, that matches the armor design.
Agreed. Just as I mentioned above none race looks alike to the other, people are just being nitpicky or have no feeling for aesthetics.Actually if you look at the profile of aura they have a very dragon/lizard like profile. Least mine does. It looks human from the front but look at a side profile they look very dragon/lizard like.
And miqo'te though look human like their face andprofile is very cat like. You see alot of differences between hyur, miqo'te, and Au ra. I could see vira being a race if they use the ff12 look, like a bunny elf chick Tall sleder but rabbit features just....... no fluffy tail or white pompom thing.
Also I wouldn't mind a small tail if it's smaller than Miqo'tes, but no pompom thing please.
This made me laugh a bit, but I totally agree. I want this race since I heard about it as well <3I'd be all for Viera, if noly because it'd make my fiance incredibly happy. She's been wanting it for a long time. I wonder how many of these people that "Want a beast-like race" would actually switch to one.... I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet that it'd be a very small portion of them, more likely, SE would make them, and people would complain that it wasn't done right. May as well put Viera in and let those people keep complaining
Yup, this is what I was trying to tell in a similar thread as well. If SE would want to implement this race, they would have no issues making them fit within the lore at all. There are plenty of idea's and places they can choose from. This race would fit within the lore in XIV totally fine.Viera are a trademark race of FFT, not only that, they are really important for Ivalice Alliance and this games just draws so much from it that, why the hell not.

Total body fur sounds good to me too. (Or total budy fur except the face is fine too)
Yep, I think that Viera are a perfect addition to FFXIV as well as stated above.Everyone knows Vieras could be different. Yoshi just made a poor excuse to say no. Well, with the Maiden's Rhapsody, Burgeon Dread, Lightning Strikes, Fabula Nova Crystalis, Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, Lord of Vermilion, the FFVII/FFX connection and many others, we don't even need FFXIV specific Lore/Explanation to have Viera in Hydaelyn. There could just be some inter-dimensional rift that throws Viera into Hydaelyn from another world. Heck, they could even imply that the voices the Viera hear in the Salikawood were Twelveswood Elementals thrown into Ivalice by the same route thousands of years ago (thus tying the Viera to the Hearers of Gridania).
EDIT: I went to look it up, because I had a nagging feeling that it would check out, and now I also know that not only doesn't we need FFXIV lore, but since all we do is all taking place in Tommy Westphall's mind (through the Mickey Mouse>Kingdom Hearts>Dissidia>Fabula Nova Crystalis/Final Fantasy XI>Lightning Returns/Maiden's Rhapsody connection, to mention one), we could just say that Tommy Westphall discovered bunny girls.

Buny people reminder, also we would need a good male viera model to fit the viera thing. Lore states that veira is a full female only race.....miqote changed so why not veira too?

Viera should be put in the game but not be made playable
I wouldn't say no to Viera. Granted I don't see it making me want to change from lalafell but still. I would have preferred them over Au Ra anyway.
