Square could do a LOT against this. For example max health based on amount of players near the mob, so it lasts for a minute and not for a second after pull. This alone would help to let more people arrive even if it is a early pull. And thats just one example. Square did make the same mistake with hunts again, even if people told them loud and clear that the current system how hunts are working is shit. Thats what you get for your monthly sub.
dont do them if you dont like it, there are plenty of other options to get your rewards:

do your daylies/weekly
go void arc
go alex savage
