People will still want to get it first Visch, that's the thing. It always holds true. Not everyone will, clearly you being one of them, but there will always be people in an MMO that want to get new gear before other people - if only for that.

If, however, you want to wait 2-3 months to get it because you know it'll all be easier then that is also fine. Especially if the gear is worth getting, people who put in that extra effort and got it right away will be able to enjoy it much more in advance.

Also, a lot of this debate revolves around how exactly new content is made easier after 3 months time. Lots of unknowns here.

I don't recall personally attacking you - unless of course something I said for w/e reason offended you. I also don't recall crying about anything.

As for your attempts at belittling other posters because of their displayed character's rank - I'm sure you learned by now that not everyone uses their main character/highest rank as their display. Also, nobody is voting here for some law. People are having a discussion. I wasn't aware people needed to satisfy certain conditions to post on a game forum.

There needs to be a fine balance between gear resets but honestly, do you really think this game is going to get new raid progression content every 3 months? Right from the horses mouth it takes them 6 months alone just to create graphics for new items. Look at FFXI's track record for new raid content. It took what, 1 1/2 years before Dynamis? This whole thread is a moot point. There will be very long points between gear resets with this game once everything is settled. The clone syndrome will set in long before we have new things to do.

There's usually an artificial blocker like long timer lockouts that separate the skilled from the terribles for longer periods but this game doesn't or won't have that if they continue with the trend of DZM's 5 minute lockouts.

    1) You don't play the game. So why do you even care?

    2) THERE IS NO "CHALLENGING CONTENT". Once people like Doctor Mog open their mouth and baby step everyone through it with youtube videos, everything becomes easy. It is a natural process. Content needs to be developed to LAST and still be worth doing.

    3) I care about having a reason to play the game. Long term motivation to log in and continue playing and paying SE. If the game is just going to routinely de-valve items by nuffing content there is no motivation to do it until it is nuffed.
Your motivation to keep playing the game is that you need to prepare for the next tier of content and fully explore the current one. You get a continuous stream of content, at a pace that the devs control to coincide right about when you've exhausted the current tier of content. It's something other MMOs have been doing for a very, very long time and it's been working just fine for them.

You're splitting hairs because you've pulled numbers from thin air. Nowhere did Yoshida say that it was going to take only a week or two for players to finish the content after it's released. Actually, it's entirely possible that he can make the content last just long enough so that by the time the newest tier comes out, the majority of serious players have just "completed" the current tier, or maybe they're even a bit behind.

Artificially inflating content length by adding in stupid grinds, time restrictions, and other obstacles that don't involve the players actively playing or getting the content is stupid when the devs have the ability to make a constant cycle with obsolescence/new release. The core of the game and the diehard fanboys will play any content as long as it's relevant, even if it's changing every X months. The players less attached to the game will not play the same content for a year or two straight, even if they haven't "completed" it.

The cycle of obsolescence/new releases also makes it much, much easier for newer players to catch up and get to the front of the pack with the "pros".

And then what is the reason to continue playing after that? Pay for 2 more months where you have nothing to do?

And where is the reason to nerf content in this? More people will get it and naturally it will be more common place and still retain it's value.

People have said this every update.

It's true but there is no previous instance to prove other wise. Everything has been beyond easy mode.

    Obviously they do.

They changed the forum rules when it went off beta so you had to have at least logged into the game in the last 30 days to post.

This right here proves you don't play. Everyone got everything from Darkhold in a week. Not 3 months. They're controlling the "pace" of the game by making sure everyone gets everything to make them happy.

And these MMO's are what? WoW? Ones people quit and reroll characters and go out of business to WoW?

If this game continues to be easy then it will.

How is this going to be possible when everything in the game lets you have a do-over instantly?

    "timesink omg timesink"

This game needs a time sink but it's not going to happen.

Exactly. You want to SPAM something and expect it to last for 3 months.

    IT WON'T HAPPEN.

Yes they will? Look at XI? People did the same stuff for years because they wanted the items and it didn't get boring because you couldn't spam.

Yeah I bet you want that huh?

Yea... this isn't going anywhere. There's obviously a persisting disparity between what I am saying and what you are understanding Visch.

If anything, you come off as a troll. The part that worries me is, I'm not so sure you're aware.

    *yawn*

People disagree with me?????????? YOU MUST BE A TROLL. CUZ I AM RIGHT.

    Give me a break.

You want to be just as good as try hards but you don't wanna try. You know. I know it.

It's fine that you can't answer as to what is the point in playing the game after you've completely the new content or while you're waiting for it to be nerfed because there is no point.

Actually, if anything I'm among the people who spam new content and try to be among the first to get the new gear I have my sights set on. I do it for me - because I want to.

If one spams new content sacrificing food and sleep, like Yoshi said, they will get their rewards really fast. As a result of their choice, they may end up bored until new content comes out.

Others will take their time, and despite a month passing they may still not have all the gear. You see how there's a motif of player choice in there?

Also I'm not suggesting you're a troll because we disagree. I'm not so ignorant. It has more to do with the manner in which you post is all.

only good thing i can see is ...endgame only being dungeons means only 8man endgame = no dkp for most part = not gotta pay for 12months a year and play even when no new stuff to do. = cya laters not paying you for months i have nothing to do. but then i can see myself skipping full dungeons knowing they don't really matter cause new ones on way too, so ..kinda bad spot to be in all together for them. right?
