Gonna throw in my 2 cents here, and the funny thing is it might have been you who I'm about to reference.

I was leveling my ninja today, and our tank in Sohm Al was REALLY slow. He could barely hold threat off of the rest of us, was not using his buffs (as a warrior) and the best part?

He would stand in front of each boss for like 2 full minutes before pulling it. So yeah, we pulled stuff for him. I'm not turning a 20 minute dungeon run into a 40 minute dungeon run just because you want to watch netflix while you tank.

Everyone can tell stories about the DPS/Tanks/Healers.
I do not know what your context is now with this, other than just randomly shaming tanks in a discussion about them.

As someone who mains a tank, I find it hilarious when "whiners" tank. You are the pace setter, but you are also the "leader" of the group. If the group is not able to keep up, or unhappy with the pace, you fail at your job. Also, lacking confidence and understanding of the game as a whole does not suite the tanking role. If you're slow at picking up mechanics, or slow in general? Don't tank.

Many problems which can be solved by the simple means of communicating.
And even when it is not possible, there will be always people in role who can't tank, dps or heal properly and come with a certain attitude that is not approvable.
Guess what - You can either leave, or just deal with it.
Of course both options suck, especially when the tank is the source of frustation. But that is an MMO for you - With the good sides, and bad sides. :/

There's no need to shame on them in this way, just because there is support coming from the tank-shame circlejerk in this thread, high-fiving eachother whenever someone can deliver another commentary that proves all tanks are bad.
I could do just the same with telling about certain DPS/Healers.

But I don't. This is a catch-22 on the boards with loads of frustrations and anger.
We do not need more of that.

We need more people that understand.

I've tanked as my main class since about 2.1 but I also DPS quite often and find that the disrespect happens on both ends. I personally prefer to do a dungeon at a quick pace but also know the limit to my ability (post 60 gear issue mostly) and I try to gauge the ability of the party I'm running with. There's no need to be rude while DPSing/Healing and try to make you intention known from the start, but being a self righteous Tank isn't cool either. And truthfully, if you wanted to stop and smell the flowers in a DF party, you picked the wrong job buddy, sorry.
