If anything they should make it impossible to gather unless you clear the entire island lol. Thus all gatherers will be forced to clear an entire island - or work together with "fight only group" to clear it for them. While the gatherers can then gather stuffs, and maybe spawn higher tier mobs for the "Fight Only" group to kill. Thus both group need each other and work together. Right now, once the goal is cleared, its everyone to do their own shit and see you later butter face!
I'm not sure if you've seen botters move around before, but they teleport inside objects/landscape. I don't think regular routes of aggro are a problem for them.
