I submit that he looks pretty dead to me, but I still say he's gonna wake the hell up one of these days. Otherwise, why would he even still be there? He'd have been eaten by scavengers and decomposed by now.

As they say, if there's a gun on the wall in a play, that gun better go off before the end of the play.
