Diadem is a new expensive feature and they tried hard to make it popular, or it'd die again in 2 weeks like old choco races. How could they achieve that? Only with i210 gear which is not weekly locked (or people would not spam it after the first drop). That said, Void Ark weelky lockout makes no sense now indeed, it drops trash comparing to Diadem and I will run it only for i210 upgrade item once a week (assuming I'll not upgrade every eso piece I have with Hunts before that).

Right. Instead, people will farm Diadem for a week, be full i210, wonder why they'd do anything else because the rewards suck in comparison, and unsub.

That sounds like a much better option.
