SE has been pretty good about handling gender neutral gear and allowing for players with female characters to enjoy a multitude of tomboyish looks. With this precedent in place the thought of the new scion gear being gender locked hadn't even crossed my mind. Unfortunately, only after having already purchased some of the new gear was when I came to this disappointing realization. I understand others want more outfits for male characters, but exclusion is never a good way of going about this. I thought they had already tackled this issue with female and male versions of the same gear. This is a step back and has only served to tick a lot of people off.

I'm confused by this argument because Minfilia's outfit is the only one that really matters as it's completely custom. It's the outfit with the strongest case for not being gender-locked, since you cant approximate it with other available gear. Modify the bust, cover the butt-crack with some shorts = boom Manfilia. Or leave the butt-crack, it's a free world.

They've handled this pretty terribly for male characters.

Yes, exclusion is not the way to go about this, but it's the way SE has decided to do it; I'd be much happier if all the sets, Minfillia included, were unisex. Making some of the Scion outfits, which are all slight alterations of generic armor pieces, male-only, and not breaking up the female outfits properly to give the illusion that they're adding more male items than female this patch, are a vain and transparent attempt by SE to 'fix' the problem of unequal glamour items without actually putting any thought or effort into it. There is no reason ANY of the Scion's costumes should be gender locked; none of them are overly masculine or feminine in base design, and if you absolutely HAD to, you could fix any perceived problems by allowing Minfillia's outfit to be dyed anything other than pink (Not that SE has a problem with guys wearing pink...just look at the Bard AF and the shirt level 5 pugilists get) and lengthen Yda's shorts a little bit.

Basic logic and also opening your eyes and looking at the avatars and names of the people complaining would tell you that it's not the same people making the complaints?

Basic logic should have told you my comment was not directed at anyone SPECIFIC, but the complaining population as a whole. Next time, I'll draw you a picture.
