If they had made them all unisex other than Minfilia's, it would be worsening the existing problem where those with female characters are always being given special treatment. From what I understand, they were originally planning on releasing just Minfilia's outfit then adding the rest at a later date. People (such as myself) were rather disgruntled that this would mean that 3.1 would bring an additional two female-exclusive outfits with nothing for the guys, and S-E's response was to bring forward the release date of the male Scion outfits. For once they resisted the temptation to make them all wearable by female characters with only a few available to male characters, and thus we are now in this position while they continue to review the underlying problem with the design team.

I would hope that when the day comes that they have either figured out how to adapt Minfilia's outfit for our lanky, masculine bodies or picked out a single male-only equivalent for the cash shop (Aymeric, please), they'll consider unlocking all of the other Scion costumes for both genders.

You know what, sure, let the guys wear the Minfilia suit too. I was saying Minfilia's gets a pass because there's probably a technical limitation (it was designed for a female model mesh and adapting it to men would be a non-trivial amount of additional work), but at the very least male lalafells could definitely wear the Minfilia suit (because, spoilers, the guy-a-fells largely share model shape and animation, and thus armor meshes, with the girls) so screw it, let the guys wear the Minfilia outfit. Do the modeling work and make it happen.

My point is that none of these other Scion outfits need to be gender-limited, because they're all based on existing armor meshes. The gender limitations are completely arbitrary.

    The community asked for this.
So they should add more tailored-for-men unique armor sets. There's no reason to slap arbitrary restrictions on a lot of this gear.

Of course the real problem is that they should just allow guys to wear the effing dresses if they want and do away with a good number of the gender restrictions, but since that doesn't seem to be on the cards...

    edit: a little extra clarification!

Let's make every players character no sex, do away with females and males. Then nobody will have anything stupid to cry about. I've never seen a game where so many people complain about such stupid things.

    Nice straw man.

I'm curious as to why her request is a problem for you, or seen as a complaint? You seem a little defensive.

While I know that you are being sarcastic, that would be a considerably better situation than having one gender which suddenly began receiving special treatment for no good reason. It's silly to divide players up by gender then keep favouring one half of the group when they release new glamours, repeatedly.

People have pointed out that male and female Lalafell are much less different to one another (model-wise) than a female Lalafell and a female Roegadyn. The vast majority of the gender restrictions currently in place make no sense at all; now the other side is seeing the insanity we've had to deal with all this time.

I hope they don't gender lock any new scion stuff if they ever come back.

Just make everything unisex and be done with it, sheesh. I don't give a fuck if I see a male Roe running around in the thav or Minfilla set, I'd probably give him a high five for rocking it and move on.

On the subject - outside of minfilia's outfit (due to the hairstyle more than anything) I agree that the gender locking is a little odd. I don't remember really seeing it explicitly stated on the mog station that the items were even gender locked at all. Can you buy the female items for a male character and vise versa?
You obviously didn't watch the video and you completely misrepresented what I said.. I said, 'equal in every aspect.' --Which would make sense if you watched the video.

SE has been pretty good about handling gender neutral gear and allowing for players with female characters to enjoy a multitude of tomboyish looks. With this precedent in place the thought of the new scion gear being gender locked hadn't even crossed my mind. Unfortunately, only after having already purchased some of the new gear was when I came to this disappointing realization. I understand others want more outfits for male characters, but exclusion is never a good way of going about this. I thought they had already tackled this issue with female and male versions of the same gear. This is a step back and has only served to tick a lot of people off.

I'm confused by this argument because Minfilia's outfit is the only one that really matters as it's completely custom. It's the outfit with the strongest case for not being gender-locked, since you cant approximate it with other available gear. Modify the bust, cover the butt-crack with some shorts = boom Manfilia. Or leave the butt-crack, it's a free world.

They've handled this pretty terribly for male characters.
