So I was actually a bit excited for the purchasable Scion outfits - I know opinions on the cash shop are "divided", to say the least, but the hell with it, I'm willing to spend a little extra for more glamour options, especially ones that allow us to otherwise get around some of the armor type limitations that I feel shouldn't otherwise be there. (I am, in this case, talking about caligae not being available to casters in ARR+, a rule which Urianger breaks with abandon.)
And then I see the items in question... and they're gender-limited.
Hyperbolic as it may seem, this has me angry enough to spit teeth.
Why?
Because aside from Minfilia, all the original Scion outfits are based on generic armor models! There is no reason for them to be gender-limited!
I mean, okay, I can at least understand why the Minfilia outfit is gender-limited (edit: though even then, nuts to it, see page 2) - it was originally designed as an exclusive outfit for a female Midlander NPC. I can see it being difficult to adapt for men (although it works on lady Lalafells easily enough), so, sure, that gets a pass. But there is nothing - nothing - about any of the other outfits that is gender-exclusive. In function, they're minor retextures of existing armor models. Hell, the existing Imperial Operative Dalmatica allowed you to do a pretty good impression of Y'shtola as it stood! And the shoes all the Scions wear are perfectly wearable by either gender!
The gender divide on the Scion outfits is arbitrary, stupid, unnecessary, and I'm sure it's hampering sales significantly. Please make the Scion sets unisex!
