Gatherers can dig up/fish up treasure coffers, apparently. I haven't seen it myself (my one trip into the Diadem was like herding cats, couldn't get anyone to stick together and every node has mobs staring at it) but I heard several people say something to that effect.
I can assure you, leeching and lotting happens by JP players also.

I think, perhaps, really this content was intended for FC groups or others who know each other, can work together and get along across goals that aren't necessarily 100% self interest. Then the DF mode was just added so access wouldn't be overly restricted...
Yeah, but what do they actually involve any combat at all? If they're like the Treasure Maps, then that's certainly something, but I've not actually seen one myself, so perhaps they need to adjust the mechanic somewhat if that's the case, they seem rare...

Leeching would be going in and just going afk while still rolling on all loot. Which is what's coming next as soon as these types of players find out they can. Then your going to have much bigger problems in there than someone gathering as intended.

a simple way to fix this , if someone doesnt participate in killing the mob they shouldnt be able to roll on the loot
I think what would work as forcing DOL to fight in order to gather. It could be a buff or Debuff depending on how you look at it, two ideas come to mind.Well, they should probably just make Stealth work there at this point... Then just work it so you can queue in as a gathering class... So then you have a party full of people interested in those objectives, rather than lumping gatherers and combat together for no tangible benefit.
Rank of mob=% of ability to gather.
Killing a Rank I=10% of a 100% each 100%=1 node to gather from for a max of 10k% however in order to get credit you have to fight the targets in question.
So if the ranks did the following:
Rank1=10%
Rank2=20%
Rank3=50%
Rank4=75%
Rank5=200%
Star=500%
This is just an example. So basically you go in and you kill 2 Rank 4, 5 Rank 1, and 1 Rank 5, all member involved in killing those and putting effort to killing those on DOM/DOW will have 400% Gather potency allowing them all to gather from 4 nodes. You go off, Gather 4 nodes and now you can't see Nodes anymore and thus have to fight again.
With that in mind though if a system like this was put in place I'd also have it where Stealth now works to balance the need to kill mobs since the % and ability to gather could also be seen as "intimidation" towards the monster and thus they would be to afraid to fight you cause you have shown them your battle prowess.
That's my 2 cents though, but I feel like it would encourage people to work together more and it would force DOL to have to pace themselves with how they gather and fight during that alloted time.
