Cash shop and the situation with the game.

some will disagree with me on this one but I will say this much. 1 exception on the cash shop I think is kind of nice is this. that Sleipnir mount isn't a terrible deal. once you buy it you get it on every single character you make. the price seems hard to swallow before you know that.

I also like that they added the Odin music to it. I thought to myself originally, "I might pay this price if I could listen to that kickass song while I ride around in my Odin Glamours" and now that it's a reality, I consider it every time I want to spoil myself - but then I buy something that lasts longer, like another Steam game.

I bought myself it. Once the thing can fly, it'll be one of my go-to mounts (alongside the primal ponies). I LOVE having the primal themes play while I'm flying around.

£13.80 and it's been so worth it.

No, not really.
FFXI gave out seasonal gear once. If you were there for the event, you got it. It's the same in FFXIV with the Titles and Achievements. If you care about those things, you get them while the event is going on. The fact that they were nice enough to give us previous gear was generous of them, but then taking it away and putting it in a cash shop was greedy. There's not many other ways to perceive this.

Sliepnir just seems like a douche move, mostly because Odin (Trial) isn't really worth doing. It only exists for glamours. At the time all the primals were giving mounts, but Odin mount was locked up in a cash shop. I'm not that bent out of shape about Sliepnir overall, but it still comes across a greedy move. I'm baffled how anyone can have a different perspective.

Every lv 1 "glamour gear" any level gear thats sole design was to be used as glamour, every mount besides chocobo.


It should all be fine right? its just cosmetic.


Better yet just take out the game world and have us in a white nothingness until we buy the textures, as its cosmetic.

there are various reasons why some people were not able to be there for said event. sometimes life throws things at us that prevent us from playing games that require a subscription. you can argue that it's greed but sorry that is an opinion. one that you might think is popular but if it was the things in the cash shop wouldn't be popular or selling much at all

the Sliepnir mount was planned long before they planned to put that trial in. they put the trial in because the players asked for it.
when I first saw the price of said mount I thought it was horrible till I found out you get it on every character on your account. this is all existing and all future. to me that money doesnt seem terrible when that is put into perspective.

they have their reasons for the cash shop being there. you might think it's greed but I think it's more than that.
Yoshi-P has told us that it's existence allows them to make more content and get better equipment in the long run. many of you think he is lying but what if he isn't? what if he is telling the truth about it.
and no I'm not white knighting, just a what if scenario there for you to think about.

Well, glamour gear takes up inventory and inventory expansions ARE "optional services" so in a way ...

"oh they gave it to us last year why don't they have it for us this year too?" they don't have to give it to us at all.

While they don't they are silly not to. Instead of removing content from the game to sell peicemeal they could continue to EXPAND the content of the game instead of keeping a slice of it for a premium service. Adding this stuff to the game gives value to the subscription that players pay every month that helps them make this content that is sold back to them (oddly enough).

I'm a firm believer that they would be better of financially if they didn't remove this content from the game or just added it to the game without selling it. Putting it on the cash shop is a short term monitary gain, while a happy subscriber is a long term higher gain. it's all about perspective, business wise it makes perfect sense to use cash shop to wring all the dollars they can get out of players as quickly as possible, especially if they aren't confident in how long they can maintain their userbase. The cash shop in itself is telling in how much faith higer ups have in the games long term value.

Just wanting to say that while odin trial doesn't have much worthy reward from a gameplay perspective, it gives many insights and is really valuable from a lore perspective.

And iirc, odin wasn't the main primal of its patch either
