I have a archived page of this thread and apparently 2-3 pages were deleted last night. Though I was defending the dev team going against the thread, so I'm sorta confused.

So, the cash shop has a few cosmetic items in it. Name a MMO without a cash shop? Because I have yet to experience one, including World of Warcraft. They're not selling raid gear, consumables that increase stats, weapons, or anything like that. They have all the old seasonal items (that you could get in the game at the time) some minions and outfits going forward, with mounts.
I mean, SE is a company and a goal of almost every company is to generate profit. This helps generate a profit, this helps fund the game further, helps pay the staff of the game and the like.
It's not selfish or hurting the game to do this; if it was actively hurting the game then servers would be closing down due to people leaving as a result of it. Additionally, nothing on there is that expensive besides for the mount, but WoW charges the same price for their cash shop mounts, so it's eh. Most items are 3 - 7 dollars.
Im absolutely fine with the shop... they already put tons of comestics in game, and the result is absurd high price items that you can only afford after months of gameplay, after years ignoring mmos with subs, playing tera, gw2, l2 and so on, i choose FFXIV and put every single game aside, all those other games you can absolutely PAY2WIN you can speed the progression like 100x faster in some of those games, thats impossible in FFXIV and that makes the game amazing for me, if they want to put comestics on store for everyone its totally fine, its really cheap... even with the conversion still pretty cheap, and the amazing thing, its untradable u cant profit so no matter how much you want to spend, theres no pay2win, if they want to put a tradable version in game, and untradable version on shop, it would be amazing, but still some people who wants $$$$$$ and high price items would be pretty mad.
PS: Love u Square Enix, you can milk my money everyday!
It's the age of micro-transactions, DLC, and cash shops, and its just about everywhere in gaming. I guess its something you just get use and it seems perfectly fine with me with what SE is doing, small, no easy profit, nothing required, and no Pay2Win, should be glad its just that because it there are far worst forms. >.<
At this point, I'm just hoping these aren't on the cash shop. =l

So se wants to sell some items from past events and a item that changes your character's looks gender and race a few emotes etc. Theres nothing relating to weapons or gear that gives you a huge boost ingame so why complain if you don't like it that much don't play the game.
I can't read all of this. I can't believe you guys.
You're basically saying, "I'm totally fine that they want money for things they used to give us for free."
You know there used to be a vendor standing next to the quest NPCs for seasonal events who just let you buy all the past gear for a reasonable gil price. Then one day they were like "Nah, these idiots will pay real money for it. LOL" and most of the people in this thread are like "Yup, we sure will" or "Nope, we sure won't but we're totally cool that other people will."
I'm not really defending the topic creator because I disagree with a vast many posts they made, but the general sentiment I completely understand. The argument "if it wasn't in the cash shop it wouldn't be in the game" is completely absurd. It's either made to be in the game, or it isn't - and if it isn't then no one is crying about it because it doesn't exist.
This is my exact problem with the Glamour system. They know it's enjoyable to play dress up and so they lock our inventory expansion behind real world MONTHLY transactions. I might be ok with a 1x fee for a retainer, but nope - they want me to pay that fee all year round every year I play indefinitely. Come on. They know what many people enjoy - it's well documented what attracts people to games and what people are (dumb enough?) willing to pay for and they capitalize on it. You can say this is the inevitability of DLC and microtransactions - it certainly is (I predicted it almost 2 decades ago) but that doesn't mean people can't have strong opinions against it. Especially when services and items used to be given for free are suddenly locked behind price tags.
some will disagree with me on this one but I will say this much. 1 exception on the cash shop I think is kind of nice is this. that Sleipnir mount isn't a terrible deal. once you buy it you get it on every single character you make. the price seems hard to swallow before you know that.
is that what people are really saying? look at it another way, the devs didn't have to put any of that stuff where anyone could get it ever again. maybe that will change your perspective on it.
ofcourse I know what you are thinking "oh they gave it to us last year why don't they have it for us this year too?" they don't have to give it to us at all. if they were to close down the shop tomorrow that does not mean anything in it would be put in the game with a way to obtain it.
