As I hinted at earlier, if I get to teach English in Japan, I am so moving to the JP server. Friends on Odin be damned, there's too much toxicity on this realm. I try to be nice and supportive of others and then people decide because I'm nice I'm a bad person and actually go as far as to talk crap about the FC I'm in at the time to make the FC as a whole look bad. I'm not even kidding, that actually happened! That's how rubbish the community can be here on Odin.

There is no strategy anymore, just remembering fight from video and getting a good group who knows the fight. We need more challenging battles and Duty Finder with open world access, make it more arcade style. Clear with no knowledge of fight or your party's playing styles.

Something I've seen a lot in this thread is that helping inexperienced players is a waste of their time.

When did so many of you get so apathetic to your fellow man? Or is this just an American thing?

I regularly help newer players, just this last week I ran a pony farm and got nine people their Kirin's. No money, no drama, just laughs and FU Ramuh/Titan all the way. As it stands me and my fiancé (our group solo healer) are refusing to get our Kirin's until everyone else has theirs. Don't believe me? Check my character profile.

I'm not saying this for recognition, what I'm getting at is that I made a lot of friends and had a laugh, I got told a very rewarding feeling for improving my self worth and making a handful of people smile.

Helping people is great, that i210 gear ain't worth jack if you're dead inside.

    tl;dr: You lot need therapy.

It all comes down to simple fact that player input is not necessary as long as necessary dps input is met from any number of sources, be it 1 or 4 dps or whole party. Since no fight is yet designed in fashion where there is very narrow lvl entry and level synced the the moment they can enter, eventualy gear progression mathemathicaly allows for inclusion of redundant elements. If they make fights where every single player is stressed for certain amount of selfawarnes if he is included in the fight, and you didnt get the credit for clearing if you didnt do certain amount of things/dps, survival time percentage req in the fight, then we would see content selling drop very sharply.

EDIT: I'd love to see the day when ppl would be shelling out their gil for geting to be teached in the fight. Say there is PF setup where 1 to 3 players is defined as pupils for the fight and echo is aplied from the start of 15% AND there is no credit of clear for those pupils and there is nothing for the teachers from server side. This would mean there no echo ever in actual fights.

You can blame the leech players for that. Players who expect everyone to carry them.

I'm not even sure survival time percentage would work as the sellers would be able to work around it by making sure the DPS don't die. I guess one-hit-kill mechanics would do the trick (and they would hit for like 90000000billion damage through ALL mitigation) and if you die even once, then you don't get the credit for the kill, but you DO get locked out the loot for the rest of the week.

Oh, and if you die you aren't even allowed to roll on the loot from that, and any kill you do obtain that week without dying won't count.

Now sure i have read my fair share of "they refuse to learn" topics on this forum but I'm more willing to believe that people simply are not willing to teach and rather just blame others for not getting better on their own.
I dunno, man. I consider myself pretty helpful. A general dungeon (not raid) experience for me is like "Hey, do you know your main source of DPS is actually Fire, not Blizzard?" (BLM continues to Bliz-spam with full mp) "Hey, do you know Summoner damage is a lot more dependent on keeping up your DOTs and then using Ruin while you wait to reapply?" (SMN continue to Ruin spam; no DOTs on any mobs). I pretty much put it out there as nicely as I can and watch it be completely ignored like I'm playing with 10 year olds or gilsellers who don't speak English. Do the JP suffer this as well? Are people more receptive to criticism on JP servers? Let me tell you, it gets old on my server group.

You can try to help as much as you can but if the other person is not willing to learn you are wasting your time, and thats what most of the time happen.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

If you've ever worked at any busy retail setting in America, you will find yourself slowly losing any goodwill you've had towards your fellow man.

This descent into apathy is hastened further in the Customer Service sections of said jobs.
