Actually, it was a part of the original game. Most of us went through it once, didn't care for it, then stayed all day in our Duty Finder basements.

The gameplay is very hit and miss but the graphics are lightyears ahead of anything a computer could manage ;P

Yeah, but it's fully PvP with no respawns, the characters are boring, and it's incredibly grindy. You also have to micromanage clothing to deal with your temperature variable and there's those annoying hunger/thirst CDs.

The NPC AI leaves much to be desired and most creatures don't drop any loot.

I find the players and npc's in most mmos boring myself though, so it's all subjective.

Also real life online is like monster hunter, the loot is ON the dead monsters <_> it's not near them unless you're in their lair.

I will say Guilds and FC's are FAR too overpowered though they can literally control your game experience if you don't flee the to next zone/continent.

lol. im excited for the new patch too and i agree as i "used" to have a very slow internet connection and downloading just FFXIV during ARR days took 29 hours to com plete so i can understand people with slow internet wanting it early so by time it is done downloading they can jump right in
