That doesn't necessarily mean you can't socket it, just can't get others to do it.

Like I said, letting you attach materia to powerful gear like that destroys the balance the system is proposing. This is intended to make common gear powerful so we can wear what we like aesthetically and still function well, becoming as good as the hardcore gear if we put in the work.
