Not to say it isn't an awesome idea but unless these are Crysta scrolls it won't work.

An awesome idea? You MUST be joking.
You think having players be able to play the game without PAYING FOR A SUBSCRIPTION is an AWESOME IDEA?!
What even is this...come on people.
This is an absolutely terrible idea. It would effectively make the game a "pay for one month sub then never pay again"
I understand that, but I strongly disagree with the fact that the people who have tons and tons of gil will be playing the game for months and months and even years without paying a single cent for the game. I simply don't like that. This is a sub based mmo and you should have to pay that sub fee to play, that's how I feel about this.

Praytell, why would it even matter if someone actually payed the sub directly or not? You're literally saying that it's a bad idea because you don't like it for no apparent reason. I don't agree or disagree with the idea of these items, as I'd probably never use them, but your argument is ridiculous. At least give an actual reason for why the idea is bad if you want to imply so strongly that it's a factually bad idea.I understand that, but I strongly disagree with the fact that the people who have tons and tons of gil will be playing the game for months and months and even years without paying a single cent for the game. Kind of like the below...
This is a good reason to not implement the system. In fact, unless a solution is found, it would turn what could be the biggest boon of the system - reduction in RMT sales and activity - into its biggest bane - an actual increase in RMT sales and activity.
I know World of Warcraft implemented this shortly after I quit the game. I wonder how it worked out for them.

this, in wow the ppl playing with token are actually a +5 dllr sub price boost for blizz since the token is more expensive than the monthly sub.
It is a pretty interesting system for the whole time vs money dilemma for players while taking a big bite back at RMT activity. As to whether it would work for FF 14, i honestly don't know since we also have to keep other cultures in mind. Even within wow the market for said tokens is apparently drastically different between regions, which may of may not be a negative....I honestly don't know.

What does number of character have to do with anything? You not charged for extra characters unless you talking about the entry level sub vs standard sub which still doesn't matter cause I would assume it would work the same way as time cards do. As for the rest as said before I would assume it would work the same way as time cards. It would cover your base sub not including extras and well if you were legacy you either could choose this option and pay a higher price (like existing time cards) or leave you account unchanged and continue to pay how you already are doing. So you saying it won't work is not true, would just simply be another version of a time card.
