I agree with you and im sad :'(
But, as somenone mentioned earlier, if they really nerf tank damage, a lot of players will change jobs. I dont know how ppl will react to a brutal change in the meta.

if people leave the tank job with the same mechanic, tank stance/dance, and same skills right now only for dealt a less dps then they are not truly tanks.

Soooo to destroy a fun job to fix a minor class......and that's a good idea because? Yall want traditional tanks? The tanking in this game isn't meta to other mmorpgs. So now only thing a tank can do is dance with the enemy boss or crowed. Dps or finding dps rotation while tanking made the job worth it. Oh well I just pray damage isn't hugely nerfed.
People tank for different reasons but nerfing tank dps (if that happens) is completely unnecessary nor was it requested? I'd hope it wasn't something the general forum community has been asking for.
And how are you going to say real tanks don't care about a dps loss? I consider myself plenty a real tank having tanked all content in game, but you want to know why I tank? Because being a good dps only increases the speed of your run so much, being a tank with good dps on the other hand has much more noticeable effects on the speed on a run . That is why I chose to tank and I do it well, am I lesser tank because of it though? Lol
Can't please everyone but why are they doing this? Who was complaining about having to meld optional materia, sure lots of people were doing it but it wasnt REQUIRED and still isn't if anything it was a bonus not a burden. The only people crying about anything related to how tank dmg works were those who did not want to contribute to dps due to not wanting to step out of their comfort zone and just wanting to stack full vit and spam their aggro rotation because its easy

Life's a tease.

no, im saying i like to play a tank, i love how the jobs work and if in 3.2 the changes make for example all damage base on vit and the result is like tanks with full str then is fine for me, if the result is like have the same damage like a full vit tank like now is fine for me, i dont go to enrage and quit a job how i like to play because mi hard slash dealt 200 less of damage, being a tank is much more, not only more depeese.People tank for different reasons but nerfing tank dps (if that happens) is completely unnecessary nor was it requested? if people leave the job i dont really care, i still being a tank, i adapt with the meta like im doing in 2.1 and i do it now.

tanking like healing is a dedicated job, you can like it or not, if one person like take the DRK PLD or WAR he like all aspect to the job, if this changes make in the end less dps for all tanks (i dont think the damage get a huge nerf of something) and some tank dps lovers leave the jobs, well i actully dont care, the tank job is and be always a job how is not for all type of people, always in any mmo you gonna see less tanks and healers versus dps.
if some people go enrage and leave the job ONLY for that, well i can only wish they fin other job how he like, the impact in duty finder and raids is not whe dont have tanks in the server, is like me whe complete all the content and i dont want to repeat, make more rewards for tanks and you can see a lot of in duty finders.
