For those items comprising the base material on many, many crafts I'm more than happy to buy full stacks because I know I'll use them.
I don't know if you've ever played Runescape, but their Grand Exchange system was the best I've seen an MMO. You search for an item and select it, it will automatically show the average price the item sells for you can make a buy order for that much or increase and decrease it however you like, I usually increase the price by 5%. Once you make the buy order it searches for items with that selected price or lower, and fills out the order. None available? It keeps the buy order open. Best part was that you can buy 1000 of an item, and it would grab 20 from this seller, and then 300 from that seller, 200 from that seller, etc and give you the change left over, it was also cross-server. Not sure why other MMOs haven't adapted the system, it solves undercutting for the most part, item value would change 5-10% over a few months-years rather than 50%+ overnight here.

No! You're on my server. Don't give away my secrets!![]()

How dare you reveal our secret?!![]()

Still wish we could just buy whatever quantity we wanted from stacks on MB, would make it easier for consumers to buy only what they want, and make it easier for suppliers since they wouldn't have to take up valuable space to split up their stacks.

Should this really be secret though? I'm just voicing what I as a consumer would like to see. I appreciate sellers of raw materials. Put up a stack of ore not available from NPC vendors, I'll buy your entire stack because I know I'm gonna process them eventually. Crafters who sell secondary materials, need to exercise more discretion in their listings. If I only need 3, I'm not going buy a stack of 50.

PSA: you have limited listings so people won't put up listings that would net them negligible gains. That's why many times you see big bulks of stuff, because only then it would net the seller an income worthy of using that space.

Stuff sells faster in smaller stacks, freeing up space.

That sounds right on paper but in practice it's a reaaaaaally wild bet. Selling by stacks of 1 or 2 would take me 50 to 99 listings to sell a full stack, and by that time I may have very well sold a few stacks of 99. It also depends on what you're selling. Logs, ores, etc. constantly sell in full stacks, meanwhile you won't be able to sell full stacks of a mat only used in 1 or 2 recipes that are not frequently crafted unless you get lucky and someone decides to grind that on quick synth for xp.
