How would you feel about end-game gear only being useful for 3 months?

Just want to point out a few things.

1.
The fact that people actually tried to personally attack me over a topic asking people to -only- post an opinion really says something about this forum.

2. at the moment about 5 times as many people would hate the system rather than love it

I heavily disapprove of MMOs that make your previous accomplishments mean nothing the very next update. This is why I both loved and hated FFXI.

Loved:

Gear I earned from Sky, Sea or Salvage were top gear for numerous years.

Hated:

Gear I earned from Sky, Sea or Salvage were top gear for numerous years, which means pretty much anything released were generally side grades or pieces for people who don't have said gear.

However, given how casual and easy people want this game to be, I can see this kind of system doing fine in the long run.

One, i never claimed anywhere that anyone said this would happen. I simply made a post asking a question
Two, the hate love thing wasn't my idea
Three, If gear is easy to obtain after 3 months then either: 1. gear is obsolete quickly with new gear being released. or 2. after 3 months everyone has the best gear for a year or 2 until new gear is released. There isn't an alternative. If gear is easily obtained after 3 months then either everyone will have the best gear except in the 3-months after new patches, or gear will be continuously replaced every 3-5 months to give "hardcore" players a chance to be elite.

And lastly, why are you causing drama, if you don't agree with the post or don't like the post, don't try to run it off topic. Either post on-topic (which is a simple answer to a question) or make a new thread on the issue.

You can't accuse someone of scamming people by asking a question.....

After another update from when you originally obtain something it might not be completely replaced but the fact that they're going to artificially make it easier to get so soon after? ...After it will naturally become easier as soon as 1 group who wants attention enough to make youtube videos baby-stepping people through it?

It just doesn't seem worth it. Investing time and energy into getting an item more or less everyone will have without putting forth the same amount of effort. Anyone willing to put forth the effort needed to get it should get it. Not handouts to people who "have lives" which the most generic baddie excuse ever.

Gear should retain value for a long period of time or else it's not worth the trouble of even getting.

Yes, YOUR idea of gear becoming obsolete every three months is horrible.

Fortunately, this isn't what is happening.

Why not edit your original post to include what Yoshi P said (paraphrased) ~ Every three months they will have unique and exclusive gear available for the hardcore players while relaxing the difficulty of obtaining last updates unique and exclusive gear for the more casual players.
(unique and exclusive as in: alternative styles, alternative stats. Not more powerful)

Because your post is just like those political message that play to people's emotion but has no ground in reality. You are acting like asking a purely theoretical question, but leading people to think you are asking about specific action SE is taking regarding FFXIV. As a result people are not answering your literal question but the underlaying message, which is not valid to begin with.

It's like someone posting on a forum discussing death penalty asking "What would you feel if the government drag you out the bed in the middle of the night and execute you?" Well, it sucks, of course, but it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the topic of discussion on the forum.

if they nerf the difficulty they should nerf the gear(reskin with lower stats) imo. I dont mind if they change things, but dont straight out say were making it easier so everyone can do it.

I dont really care.
The thing is thats only for the most hardcore of the hardcore, for the rest for us the gear would be useful for longer than that and i really doubt they raise the level cap ever 3 months.
