    I just realized, if they did split our sources of AP between STR and VIT, equally, it will just make unnecessary complication in balancing accessories. I mean, Slaying and Fending accessories will just net the same or less AP vs melded accessories. On the other hand, skewing towards one stat in favor of the other will render left-side equipment (as both have STR and VIT) quite pointless... esp if the skew favors more on VIT, than STR.

    So my new stand is as follows:
    1. Screw splitting damage between STR and VIT and keep STR as main source of AP.
    2. Replace VIT trait with STR trait for tanks.
    3. Lower STR gains from all post-50 left side stuff to keep tank dps at bay.
    4. Scrap Fending accessories.
    5. Increase HP multiplier from VIT.
    6. Make VIT a secondary stat, similar to PIE.

    It's a lot of rework for a simple patch. For an expansion why not, but I don't see them coming up with something like this right now. I remain on my idea of them just making VIT the new AP modifier, rendering STR completely useless for tanks and maybe lower all tank damage to what they do now with an hybrid build to compensate. It would fix the problem about fending accessories being useless and stuff. We'll see, I think we will have more informations about that in future live letters between 3.1 and 3.2. Let's be patient.

    Thing is, tank gear comes with STR. If they didn't scrap STR affecting block strength then it's alright to me but knowing that all left-side gear has VIT on it, to have an accessory with nothing but VIT on it is useless at a certain point. Might as well have an accessory with nothing but PIE.....

    They could just delete all the STR from tank gear, it honestly doesn't matter at all since our only main stat would be VIT. Just increase drastically the damage directed to the tanks in future encounters to make the HP bloat useful, and that's it. Tank gear would only have 3 stats, but they could even do something like adding parry to every tank gear as a free stat, this way we would still have : our main damage AND HP stat (VIT), two DPS secondaries (det/crit/SS/acc) but with an extra thing which even if it's shit (let's be real, parry is), it's free and we wouldn't lose anything from having it in our gear so we wouldn't care and our gear would still have 4 stats. It would fix multiple problems in fact. This way, parry chance would constantly increase with the ilvl as well as HP and damage, like... It should be for a tank ? And we'd actually want Fending accessories.

    There'd be no point in doing that split. We'd all just build vit and ignore str, If they did a 60/40 split they might as well just make the main stat Vit, because it'd have the same effect. The fact that there is Str on current left side gear doesn't mean very much in the long run.

    I agree with making vit a secondary and giving another stat over just doing some kind of weird split.

    As it sits now tanks are the only role with variety and interesting gearing options imo. The changes will likely make them as bland as gearing the other classes. If anything I think this game needs more gearing variety, not less.

    But this would require bringing variety to every other single jobs gearing options, which is more likely to happen in an expansion. And what are variety and choice in vertical progression MMOs anyway ? Just merely an illusion. Theorycrafters will always find the best possible option and every reasonable/good player will follow this.

    Absolutely, but the due to the way the crafted stuff worked with the vit/str melding, it allowed for multiple routes to the same ends (maximizing str while staying on vit meta for hp in savage), granted some combination were better than others but it allowed variance that could be utilized based on player and team skills to further min max output, it also allowed for alternatives to accessory availability and a sense of horizontal progression that has been badly missing. While your hyperbole is an interesting conversation, it's hardly a good reason for further deconstructing some of the few interesting things left in this game as far as stats go. At this point they might as well just remove stats completely and just gear on the number on the item because that's essentially what it's coming down to anyways.

    I could be wrong but i believe all tanks wearing full vit and ignoring str is what se wants.
