Can we have iLv Requirements for story content?

I don't think it's gear thats a problem, just players skill

I levelled my Monk from 50-60 using my FCoB BiS and didn't pay attention to gear unless it dropped, I never failed a dps check but then I don't even remember there being a dps check....

A DPS job is to dps therefore there should never be a limit to how much dps output you have, being content with just "meeting dps checks" is a sign of a bad dps. I'm not saying you are but as a dps you should always want the best dps possible just not for your sake but your groups time as well.
Even if you dont see any dps checks I'd recommend you parse just to compare numbers, I'm leveling my MNK atm too and I feel I'm doing my part to the group by outperforming the other dps every single run although most the times they arent parsing im sure
Again, I gotta stress I'm not saying you ARE a bad dps
