Yeah I think the balance would have to swing pretty far still for us to be pushing it the other way. The Ascians don't strike me as individuals that seem particularly dedicated to balance.

So if they are not evil, why do we need to have a faction VS faction for them? Because we can't agree on what faction we like more? And if you are going to cite FF3 for a reference, at least get it right; you don't fight the WODs in that game just because they're not with the light and they actually help you out in the end.Warriors of darkness are not "bad guys" or have you never played FF3? You could read the story...
EDIT: The Warriors of light/darkness come when there is an imbalance of one side. Square uses a LOT of balance, ying yang in their stories. Just because they are "darkness" does not make them evil >.>.

As much as I would love that, SE could've just palette swap him during that Cut-scene with our character. I think Mr. Derplander well be the rep for WoD as well as his gang. The cut-scene with the bishop still makes me wonder tho. Even tho we are the WoL, is there also a darkness we are building up as well? Maybe something will happen we'll be split into "2 beings." It would be a nice opportunity for...But for now, I'm sure it will be Derppy and his gang for the time being. They could always add a sixth member during the course of the expansion lol.DRKs who completed the Lv50 Quest, to get reacquainted with "our" darker selves.

That's a theme that is actually brought up a lot in various places in questing in HW. Infact DRK literally use their own inner darkness to fight.
However in the overall balance of the world, I wouldn't say the Light is winning. Frankly we seem to spend most of our time as the WoL trying desperately to plug leaks and frankly we have come into a game here the Ascians have been playing for thousands of years. Considering the shear level of destruction the Ascians have unleashed and their talk about returning the world to Darkness, I don't think balance is what they are aiming for.
Not to mention that their little emissary doesn't seem to want to do anything to stop his brethren from causing shenanigans to the world, despite him having a hard on for "balance".That's a theme that is actually brought up a lot in various places in questing in HW. Possibly. Its interesting this just happens to coincide with the point where there manipulation of us starts to lose traction and we become more of a liability than an useful tool to them.
Again, while balance is undoubtedly an important factor, I doubt the motivations of the Ascians necessarily are that interested in balance or if balance is their goal, that a state of balance is going to be good for anyone currently living on the planet. The Ascians seem to have little concern with the wellbeing of people.
While we're desperately trying to plug leaks, it seems that we are becoming out of balance ourselves. After we defeat Thordan, he looks at us and says "How?...A millennium of prayer combined with the eyes power... And still you stand? Who...What are you!?"That's a theme that is actually brought up a lot in various places in questing in HW. Infact DRK literally use their own inner darkness to fight.

As if no mortal should have had the sort of power that could stop him. Like we're slowly reaching godly status.
heck yeh, they too were referred to as warriors of the crystal, as well as the player character, the contrasting darkness to our light.Omg, I remember my Divine Might run like it was yesterday.... So much pain but at least I got my earrings from it ^_^.
Taru was a BLM/RDM, Hume was a WAR/NIN, Galka was a SAM/DRG, Mithra was a BST/THF, and Elvaan was a PLD/WHM. All with both Job's 2hrs, (At the time DRG's 2hrs was to summon your Dragon Pet...) So much fun in that fight. Not only was it optional, but it counted as completing ZM 11 as well.
Such an awesome track as well.
