He's not being specific hes declaring a level of skill set and ambition that will be necessary to clear Thordan Extreme.

Would just like to point out real quick that Bismarck EX's weapons were irrelevant almost immediately, serving only to possibly help you with Ravana EX if you didn't already have your upgraded Law weapon. This doesn't seem quite so far-fetched by comparison.I guess everyone has their own idea on what pointless is or would be in this game. Myself, I don't see a reason to implement an entire weapon set for less than 5% of the player-base, only to completely make it useless in a month with something else that's going to likely beat it out in stats and ilvl that EVERYONE can do, and use. Seems like a huge waste of time on their behalf in terms of development time. If anyone and everyone can run Thordan HM after a week or so of learning and just faceroll it, that just drives my point home further.
Fair enough. Though, difference here being that all of this you mention was included in the launch of the expansion, and not 5 months later, with a replacement set a month afterwards.
from an unofficial translation...
"New Relic is 3.15: Titled Anima Weapons
-First step will not be difficult
-Yoshi-P himself recommends not to go back and get Zeta and to instead just do the Anima Weapons themselves
-Zeta will have an advantage on the first step
-Advantages for Zeta will not be job-specific to what you completed the zeta on. If you have a BLM Zeta you may still gain an advantage on doing the Dark Knight weapon for example."

And even if the first step is not 'that' easy, I will not go back to Zeta. I'd rather save my Gil since I'm not rich and feel like spending what I have on just a weapon glamour.
Remember you need to have it equipped before the dungeon, trial, raid, etc ends. Whatever you toss on it can all be nothing higher than grade 1 or 2 materia as long as its still functional for light farming. Also it looks like they are making light farming easier by letting us spam the heck out of the easiest dungeons while undersized. If I'm right Zeta refers to either Excalibur 125 or 135. You might as well light farm while undersized while doing the KI farming in the dungeons if you already finished your first relic. Then start saving up gil for those craft mats and items to reach Zeta rank.
I've been done with Pld Zeta for a while and four mahatma left for my axe. I'm stopped at on light farming for Dragoon to do tanks first. but farming gil for the craft items is the most time consuming part. By the way it was written you'll get a pass for each Zeta weapon in one stage for the new Anima weapon (possibly the starting stage). Considering Dark, Mach, and Astro don't have Zeta. I'm guessing if the relics are not job locked you can use one toward either of those three's Anima weapons. However in the long run it might be better or faster to start anima from scratch than spend all that time farming a Zeta from scratch. Unless you're already at Light I or near Light II's stage on a second weapon etc, or you really want to get those achievements.

I am curious if Anima refers to the Anima from 1.0 or if it just literally means "soul weapon" and no reference to anything else, including Bleach.

It won't matter.I still have to complete my Curtana with materia..
I was about to put just anything I have in order to get to the light steps..
But idk if we get a new PLD weapon (or any new weapon) besides the one we have..
if yes, then I could just meld any materia to it, not caring about it..
if not.. then I'll have to follow the process more carefully..
New relics are designed with those that completed 0 zeta in mind, plus new jobs have no zodiac weapon.
