It wouldn't help in that situation, though. If you can't get into the game, you cannot enter your house and will lose it. Whether you still have a sub or not is irrelevant.I guess I can thank my lucky stars that I decided to knuckle down and go for the 6-month auto-renewing sub, then.
Build your own pc, if anything breaks, buy replacement part, less than 2 weeks later and you're good to go.
I personally do not own a gaming PC. I use PS4. However, I only included it because something similar happened to one of my friends and they were gone for 66 days. Without notice. Turned out something really bad happened to their PC.
Wow... lucky. Maybe the service was different back when I had it. Or because the place was in California and I'm at the other side of the country. I dunno. They did fix it though. They fixed it good....real good.
And you mean to say you will have no access to a computer capable of logging into FFXIV for essentially five minutes over a 45 day span? In this day and age, I find that incredibly difficult to believe. Just surveying my own options I can: ask a friend to log in for me, swap my mother's laptop or use one of my old models that's been collecting dust for years. Even a completely garbage laptop with no graphics card will suffice. The lag would be immense, but you'll manage.

Oh here's an ... interesting detail, on the "For New Players" website:
They actually highlight housing as a feature, grouped together with things like crafting or Free Companies. Euhm... yeah, reclamation is definitely a drop in the ocean for something like this.
Yeah, I saw that the other day and was a little peeved. If it's not available to 95% of players, don't advertise it to new players, most of which expect it upon hitting level 20 like other MMOs.Oh here's an ... interesting detail, on the "For New Players" website:

The options are limited for PS3/4 players. To log on with a PC, they would have to buy the game just to install it and use it. Additionally, your friend with a PC can't log onto your account if you play on PS3/4, without you still buying that PC copy. It really isn't as easy as people think it is to log on from multiple devices to this game, which limits options. And you mean to say you will have no access to a computer capable of logging into FFXIV for essentially five minutes over a 45 day span? There are still possibilities, just not as many as may normally be open in a typical MMO.
