OP, i wouldnt worry too much about what other people say when it comes to healing and dps. It seems over the past few months, the community has become more and more hardline about healers dps'ing everywhere, and not just where it is needed for progression. In savage, its nice to get healers to dps, an it usually is the SCH that does whilst WHM solo heals. For progression, it is usually absolutely needed for a healer to contribute dps, but this is the only place in the game where it is actually needed. In dungeons, its not needed, but in DF you can get those wonderful dps who do negative dps on mobs, so everyone turns to the healer and goes "run is slow, why is healer not dps'ing" when it really should be "run is slow, why are the dps not putting out good figures? Healer if you can manage to, throw some dps out when you can".

Saying that, dungeons are a good place to practise stance dancing. I am one of those SCH who spends 90% of my time in dungeons in cleric stance, but thats from playing SCH since 2.0 and easily getting bored if i have nothing to do.

Enjoy summoner, ignore those in the thread who are coming across as toxic, have fun with the game.

Velox pretty much summed up in their two posts on the first page how the community should see healer dps.

Alas, hardliners are becoming more hardline these days with "healers HAVE to dps everywhere"
