Yeah, in WoW, if you failed so terribly to do your actual rotation you'd be kicked without a word to tell you why.

I don't know where the "I play to have fun so i'm going to be an <ice mage/ruin summoner/fairyless scholar/etc...>" attitude comes from. I had a conversation with my FC leader about it and she told me that i was sounding elitist for expecting people to perform their job correctly in group content.

I don't care what you do on your own, but in a group i expect people to do what they're supposed to be doing. This isn't a play your way MMO.

As for fresh 60 tanks who think that they can take on the whole dungeon in a single pull while in dps stance, i've noticed that if they die horribly, they'll take the hint that they are not gods.

Welcome to the FFXIV, where you can play how ever you want to play - as long as you don't tell others how they should play.

If you like to clear content in reasonable amount of time, or if you dislike failing at it... too bad.

Some players just can't grasp what words like "team effort" and "contribution" mean.

We should have The Ice Mage Day or something to illustrate how would things look like if everybody cared only about themselves.

To be fair...it's hard to remember exactly, but I think back in WotLK? Cata? my Rogue rotation pretty much was:"Mutilate, Mutilate, Mutilate, Envenom, Mutilate..." with the occasional Shiv, S&D or Vanish -> Garrote mixed in. Whatever it was, it was a joke compared to any FFXIV class. And my mage wasn't any better.

On that note, maybe we should create some "simple" classes that can perform efficiently without combos or OGCD management. It doesn't make people any better, but they get better results with the same level of play, which appears socially desirable.
