Kinda describes a certain race, don'tcha think?

you're completely missing my point here and it's getting kind of disheartening.
this game also rests within the final fantasy franchise. there are fans who are asking them to integrate more media from previous titles into this one. the same people who buy all other SE merchandise at the drop of hat, no questions asked. the same people who have been supporting them, not just with this game, but for basically their entire lives.
one of the ways that SE keeps it's fans around is by constantly feeding us nods to old content. they purposely self-reference other titles within titles. you may call it ' unoriginal ' , but i'm gonna call it: marketing.
stylistically that would make the most sense, yes. faux outrage aside, i'd like to (re)clarify a few things.
they just added a race from ffxii that most people do not even think of into 3.0 lore, small as it is. if they did it for the uretan-yensa ( read: the gnat ) and they could do it for the viera or any other race for that matter. it really is that simple. the arguments you guys have is literally ' i don't like it and it's impossible for the devs! '
concern trolling at it's finest.
this company has been writing games for almost 30 years.
it's anything but.

Is your argument not "I like Viera so it should happen"? I personally don't want Viera because I want something new, I think that's a fair argument. I'm not going to be outraged if they bring in Viera, not at all, but a new and original race is always nice.stylistically that would make the most sense, yes. faux outrage aside, i'd like to (re)clarify a few things.

I actually like the look of the Viera! The more races the better![]()
i'm not suggesting they just throw them in for the sake of it. i don't think anyone in this thread is. there's no ' copy and paste ' that i'm asking for here. it would all obviously have to make lore sense and not feel forced or clumsy.
i'm not a psychic. i have no idea when or what the next expansion is going to be, but, i think it's fair to say, that what i and others are suggesting could be attempted. the reasons are purely nostalgic though, yes. it would be very nice if it happened. i will still play if it doesn't, but asking a franchise to consider some sort of nod to something that already exists within it is not unreasonable or illogical. especially when they do it on their own already.
it's not as one dimensional as people were trying to make it sound though. there would be an amount of fan service being paid to older fans, yes. i can and have already admitted to this much in my previous posts. i am totally for adding other ivalice races ( or even ronso ) to the game. i really like revs, but we already have cat people ( they'd fit into ul'dah like nobody's business, however. )You don't see nearly as much support for[...]
we can stipulate and complain about represention from other branches of the fandom until kingdom come.
meme spamming and making sweeping generalizations and assumptions isn't helping though.
edit: how are you beating the post limit? having to reply in snippets is a pain.

With beastmen, they can easily go "well they've only been secluded in this area and choose not to venture out because reasons" (Gnath were terrified of being squashed by dragons and mostly spent their time in the Forelands and Vanu Vanu lived alone in the skies, until the Fire Nation attacked). Viera would need to be eased into the storyline, so that it sounds like they've lived on Hydaelyn this entire time (Au Ra were, hilariously enough, first mentioned via the wind-up Odin doll. This was before we even knew what Yugiri's race was called... and when people were assuming she was a Viera). If it was just "by the way, Viera have been here this entire ti~me" it kinda just... what?
To beat the post limit, use Edit.
okay, i think i see what you're getting at actually. you're sick of the hype around this. i got into 3.0 pretty late, so i didn't really start getting very vocal until after i heard about the concepts. at any rate, this debate is endless and i've said my piece. we can agree to disagree, everyone. i know this isn't ivalice and i appreciate eorzea.
i just have fonder memories of the former. i'm not going to quit the game if they're not added. i'm pretty used to being a lala now.
...it would be nice, though.
it'd be really nice.
esp since the other races do not appeal to me
but to actually answer who asked:
it was less about ' hot / cute bunny people ' and more about ' protectors ( and defectors ) of the wood '
i wanted to be a wood sprite 'rabbit' with axes destroying things in dungeons, but you know, they look so girly, right?
they can't even be in places with high concentrations of magic without having to worry about berserk stats.
canonically, there's nothing fragile or traditionally ' docile ' about viera.
however, i can see the case for wanting something different. i'm actually not against this.
i'm pretty attached to certain elements from a particular time period, however, yes. i wouldn't be so ' adamant ' if i didn't think that they could fit into the lore. i was obsessed with the lore from the ivalice alliance and i've already thought about this. long before this thread was here...believe me.
someone just mentioned how they don't get how'd their absence would be explained if they happened to be from a pre-existing area, yeah?
well, it's also canon, that they're very reclusive. a lot like the ishgardians, except probably a lot less friendly to visitors. they also had magic barriers in the golmore jungle ( read: FFXII ) that would ensure that outsiders wouldn't be able to find them because they don't like humes / hyurs. so...
there's that.
i'm going to refrain from spewing out an entire AU here now, but it's incredibly tempting.

It irks me that the devs say:when referring to Viera because the Au Ra are literally Mi'qote with horns and tails. Also, while we're on this subject, I didn't find that the Au Ra had broad customization like we had been promised. Every female Au Ra you meet in-game has Face 1 and they all look exactly the same. We can't even choose different horns for different faces, and scale color is locked by lore.it just seemed like a Mi'qote with bunny ears instead of cat ears. It simply wasn't different enough.
They stated that they wanted to implement something bestial like this: http://imgur.com/0ya8AoD and I, personally, would have much rather have had this as opposed to the cutesy delicate dragon girls who were written off as "demons" last minute because they forgot the expansion was about conflict with dragons.
