If you want massive guilds working toward goals, a game with only 8-man raiding probably isn't the right choice. Of course, I don't think there IS a right choice for that anymore, so I guess I can understand your pain.

The problem I see with any huge FC is that there is only a small amount most members will contribute, while management and reward will mostly come down to a tiny handful. How many players are in FCs with airships, yet they have no idea what the airship interface looks like? I'm the kind of player that wants to build it, manage it, repair it, and reap the rewards from it, and I can't see how that would work in an fc with over 100 people.

I don't think they should favor any type of FC size. Airships are rough, because on one hand, you have an FC credit shortage for the small FCs, and a lack of access to airships for the players in large FCs.

Perhaps a happy medium would have been to have FC airship fleets, where each member can build and operate their own airship. Smaller cost and reward per airship, but direct control for each FC member of their unique ship.

This irks me to no end because we have less people to run stuff with in FC, not as much FC events and a whole lot of other things I can list that I cant think of atm, I come from the days where massive guilds were around in games working towards a larger goal, nowadays the lack of incentive to be in guild is saddening there literally is no reason to even be in an FC at this time besides fc buffs.

I hope the new islands patch gives us a reason to build larger fcs like maybe competing for the bosses, more bosses spawning with more members, idk anything
The flip side of that is that a lot of people don't really tend to stay in a small FC. My FC is a tight-knit core of people that came to FFXIV from another game. Some of us are even friends in RL. We've tried recruiting at various points, but I've found that people recruited this way don't stick around. Every single one of them has eventually left. Either they are asked to join an FC to be in a raid static, they go to join a friend in another FC, or they leave because they just think there will be more benefit to being in a large FC. Sorry that small FC's inconvenience you, I guess? Being in a huge group like that makes me feel less like an individual and more like a cog in a machine.

I'll be very surprised if SE gives any incentive whatsoever to large FC's, because the airship exploration content is going to be available from the Ishgard airship launch. Even people without FC's will have access to it.

This is part of why I'm in a smaller FC. I want to actually do the airship/gardening content myself and that's just not very likely to happen when you join someone else's FC. Either the FC leader does it themselves (like me) or they have an officer already appointed to do it. So, the pro of a large FC is ease of access to resources, while the pro of a small FC is ease of access to the content itself. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with making it somewhat easier for smaller FC's to earn points. I don't think that an FC with 20 people in it should generate as much as an FC with 100 people in it, but there's got to be a happy medium somewhere in there. There are large FC's out there with literally millions of unused points earned through the basic daily activities of its members, while I have to put up FC messages reminding people to do Expert Delivery with every dungeon item they can get their grubby paws on, and sometimes have to sit for hours and churn out points on my own just to get enough for flight credits, ceruleum tanks, and the FC actions that we need.

I love this idea!!! This is also exactly why I don't want anything huge ... it's not me, or my close-knit friends style of enjoyment or play style. And Goblin is in a HUGE patch lull with anyone new or old, so there really AREN'T any options if we WANTED to grow, and scaled FC credits would be a nice insurance against times like this IMO.
