Yes, it would be nice, but that's missing the point of the system.

SE want you to use your house on a regular basis. They set that amount of time to be "at least one time within 45 days".
If you don't, they want to make it available to someone else or an FC who will hopefuly use it (if not, the cycle will just continue).

Clearly, the message they sent with that new system says that individual housing is a luxury you have to maintain/use regularly to keep. Not doing it would mean that you're not the target for that particular content.
You would have to join an active FC with a house to be free from this issue.

In short: individual housing is something for people who commit to it on a very frequent basis... which is fine considering the rarity of that ressource (plots).

I definitely won't dispute what your saying. However, for those who are active players when they can be, will be penalized by this system due to real life.

I agree that they could join an active free company, but that diminishes the work and effort they personally put into the personal house they worked to get and make their own.

I like the basis of the system, but the big flaw is that there is not any way for players who due to real life have no way to tag their house with a "unable to log on for xx days" tag for those who need it.

If I'm inactive for 45 days, I know what I'm getting in to and what results of this (due to limitations and demand by the players, our peers).

Oh sure, you know what we're getting into now. At the time that you purchased your house, you did not, and the available evidence at the time suggested that it was a one-time, permanent purchase.

Speaking from my own situation, if I quit for 45+ days, it's because I'm done. I'm willing to bet an overwhelming majority of players would be in the same standing on the matter, where they are not in a situation that sub cost means going homeless sort of thing.

It's possible that the people I play with are simply an oddity, but I have a decent number of friends who sub based on when SE adds new content and then unsub when they've exhausted the parts of that content that they're interested in.

There have also been many, many threads lately, both here and on places like reddit, where people have lamented being bored with the game in its present state, but not completely done with it. Frequently the advice to players who find themselves in that position is "Take a break from the game, play some other stuff, come back in 3.1!" It's more difficult to make such a recommendation now.

It just means they have to stay subbed for 30 out of every ~ 75 days they take a break though...and spend a whole 30 seconds logging in and back out. I took many breaks over the years from other MMO's and with very rare exceptions I always stay subbed even when I wasn't actively playing.

Honestly I feel like that kind of makes it worse. They knew it was a possibility and were trying to actively avoid it before the system was ever in place. It was designed with the intent of avoiding this exact situation, and yet here we are.




It was announced around April 2014 and scrapped due to a lot of negative feedback. :P Also doesn't make them look good. Makes em look desperate and disorganized.

They go based on feedback, it was scarped because back then people didn't care but now since the game has been out for 2 years all the housing is packed once people wised up and realized that people can just buy and horde plots and never play again, they finally realized how much of a mistake that was, Now people want it in. It makes the community look disorganized. Should have realized this was going to happen back then.

I don't think people have "wised up," they've just gotten desperate. At the time the community response was basically "you should come up with a better system than this, it's an absurdly low design standard" and now it's become "well okay apparently this is the best we're going to get." We haven't become enlightened to the amazing benefits that we were blind to, our standards have just dropped because there's been no progress for about 18 months now.

This system is just as bad now as it was then, people have just lost confidence that SE can do any better.

round here we call those game hoppers. Why should they hold rights to a house over someone that subs the entire year? Honestly they shouldnt, maybe they should stick to a FC room if they dont plan on actually playing the game.

I'll turn it around for you: let's say I've been subbing and playing for an entire year then decide to take a break for whatever reason. Why should game hoppers get any rights on my house while I am away if I'm gonna sub for another year when I'm back?
