I wonder, if SE made a big deal about it, would the news of an MMO having Oceanic servers rally in even more players from the region?
"Oh gosh, a sweet MMO with servers not a billion miles away? I'll look into this..." one may say!

I do know a few people who have quit due to ping issues, but that was back when I was playing on NA servers.
Just makes me wonder how games like Path of Exile, Runescape and PlanetSide 2 can afford Oceanic servers but it took SE 2 years to even implement European servers which most MMOs have at launch.
I don't get why they can just place a server in Singapore to service the English speaking Oceania audience.
Same reason it took wow 10 years to give Oceanic their own servers LOL.I do know a few people who have quit due to ping issues, but that was back when I was playing on NA servers.

Did they ever give a reason?
But now that they have done it, we know it's possible to get something going with the service providers here without too much of a hassle, just cost. But then there are other options, New Zealand, Indonesia, etc.
This was their excuse in 2010 http://www.ausgamers.com/news/read/2974876
So complete misinformation on their part and the unwillingness to deal with any ISP that isn't Optus (one of the worst in my own experience)? Sounds like Blizzard alright. This was their excuse in 2010 http://www.ausgamers.com/news/read/2974876
Yeah, that would help us out, and the Japanese players on the elemental servers might feel better... If this is anything to go by

"Do you think we're making this up? You won't understand that moment of despair when you realize half of your 8-man party is made of E players."
That's assuming this post is true.
Apparently there are over 2000 players from New Zealand/Australia, so one server might have decent numbers.
Idn, is 2000 players enough for a server? or would it still be too quiet?

My Japanese friends are all fine with English players, but they do speak somewhat decent English. I can see how it would be frustrating to communicate with players you can't well, communicate with. Auto translate isn't that graet, I've found Google translate to be more useful although that's wonky most of the time. There isn't exactly an alternative for us though, apart from straight up quitting. Even selecting English only throws me in with JP players.
I heard that there is a collection of Aus and NZ players on the NA server Behemoth, so I am planning on going there, so I don't step on too many toes :3 The ping of NA and JP servers are around the same for me, so I might as well go Behemoth.
Haha, man, I feel like replying to my own earlier comments with "Want some cheese with that whine?"
