Please, stop with your backseat healing!

I was in A4 today on Paladin. I was the off-tank.

Every single Discoid (as is the case like, literally, 90% of the time when I'm not healing it myself) would have killed the MT if I hadn't hit him with a Clemency. The first time I cast it because he was 50% going into Discoid cast. And then he almost died from it anyway. So I made sure to do it every time. The last one, I had to hit him with *two* Clemencies to save his ass because the healers were clearly busy doing something other than healing the tank. He had 300 HP left before my first one hit, and it was the only heal he got before the following blast.

So.

I'll stop backseat healing when healers stop falling asleep at the wheel.

Clemency at least help, DPS classes with no MND casting cross-classed Cures do not. About A4: are you sure the healers were not nhaving to deal with the orbs alone? Because DPS these days seem to forget it's their job...

Wait, it's their job??? News to me! I had a run on Saturday where I was expected, as off tank, to eat every single orb, and called out for not doing my job as OT. ...I was happy to take the 30 min penalty.

You sir, are making appropriate use of something in your actual, job specific tool kit and that's not the kind of backseat healing I'm talking about. But kudos to you for saving your A4 run. I've had so many shitty A4 runs this past week. Tanks dying when they shouldn't, dps eating too many orbs, dps blaming tanks for not eating more orbs, healers just plain not healing...but that's a different rant.

I'm talking about backseat healing when I'm actively engaged in playing, and doing something the community demands of healers - more dps. The tank wasn't in danger. The dps just took it upon themselves to top them off mid battle.

BLMs eating 4 orbs in a row because y'know, they're super tanky. A Summoner with 6K HP (why? I dont know either), DPS dying at quarantine (don't ask me), co-healer dying 3 times in a row: all today on my 5 runs trying to get my weekly shaft. Still no shaft.

Well, OT can take some if he have free time, but spreading the damage around the 4 DPS + 2 healers is way easier to deal because it doesn't require any focused healing. I don't know what's their problem to tell the truth: they eat too many orbs or don't eat any at all. Geez.

My condolences to you. I got really lucky and got my shaft this past Sunday after my third or fourth clear. (They start to blur together...) There were eight or so abandons, and I outright quit the one where they accused me of not doing my job. 9_9

I'm gonna start trying to get my last shaft early this week. Hell of it is, this is for my alt 60...and depending on Void Ark gear I may not even NEED it...

Whenever I'm on my non-whm classes before they get their job, I find it helpful to take cure and protect to aleviate some of the workload from the healer. Sure we may be taking your job, but please do realise we're only trying to be helpful lowbies. :3 As a main-WHM I appreciate the assistance from everyone.

Don't think it an insult nor a waste of time, think it a compliment and a breather. Especially if they're really low-leveled and don't have the gear to produce adequate DPS.
