Just a small change that would be appreciated.
It would encourage leveling other jobs to cap and give us a reason to do so, instead of having to focus on one, with secondary jobs being significantly behind in ilvl.

YES PLEASE /signed.
This would really help but I don't see it happening.
Wouldn't that mean that you (if you so chose) could farm up every single piece of loot the game had to offer in about 11 weeks (give or take depending on if weapons, accessories, etc are included).
The situation was the same back when Philo/Myth were the two types of tomes.
It's likely the next type of tome gear will be more generic again. Just wait it out, 'cause change isn't likely going to happen for Eso gear.
I am in support of this motion and have been since this weekly cap has been released.
The amount of commitment and time required for anyone to try and farm up gear for ALL jobs in 11 weeks is insane. If they manage to do it, they deserve it. It's not as if the tomes will suddenly fall into their laps without doing anything?
Never will understand the mentality of people wanting gates to bar people who want to play from playing.
Hell, this might even be the answer to make the game more engaging outside of the Raid and Cap in 1 day and wait for next week.
Even if you only can cap 1 job's worth of tomes while others are capping 2/3/4/etc. you aren't behind by any means because at the end of the day, you can only enter an instance as 1 job and not as multiple jobs.
There is literally no disadvantage to this and the fear of people gearing their alts instead of twiddling their thumbs is extremely illogical.
Anyone that wants to spend that much time grinding tomes per week is more than welcome to do so. Even if I had all the time available in the world, I wouldn't do that lol
I don't think it would be as much of an issue as people think it would be.
1 - You would still have to be on that job, meaning it would need to be max level. (Then I can't gear other jobs before I even level them)
2 - You are still locked per week on that job, so it is not like you will magically come out ahead of anyone else.
3 - things like ark or ct would still be relevant if they make them drop upgrade items and can still be used as filler gear.
4 - You would learn that job better, since you are forced to play it frequently, if you want to gear it. (good from a learning stand point)
5 - It would keep green dungeon gear mildly more relevant to hold on to instead of trading in, causing you to make a choice seals or hold on to the gear. (I don't know about you but I have all law gear for half my jobs that are not even leveled yet lol)
6 - it stops the feeling of hitting a brick wall every week, and gives the feeling of more to work for.
7 - You would be able to bring less played jobs to raiding without feeling like you delt the party a blow by an ilevel (obviously you still have to be able to play the job well)
With that said, it works better when jobs don't share gear. I think if this were to happen, you would find most players would still level/gear/favor 1 or 2 jobs, but not feel like they are locked into only those. (Speculation)
Also... I wish it was like this, but I doubt it will be.

a lot of good points there, it's hard to enjoy the flexibility of being able to level everything while being handicapped for wanting to do so.
Solution:
gear farming with airship explorations (3.1)
