Where are the -real- Fishing improvements?

Fishing used to do spearfishing in 1.0 and was almost on par with the other DoL classes. In 2.0 they decide to make fishing more like a hobby to enjoy and relax, more like real fishing.

It may be more relaxed "more like real fishing", but lacks things that real fishing has for reasoning of harvesting more fish.

That's what FSH Retainer are for tbh. If you want a large amount of any ingredient you need one of those. Other then that you're better off crafting/do whatever to get money and just buy the fish b/c it's faster.

Even tho they got that wrong with 3.0 too. 3.05 added some things that were really needed (Mog Pom etc.) for the retainer to bring back but some essential fish are still not in the list *looking at you Coerthan Crab*

Real fishing only gets you more of the same kind if you fish with a net (which you want but we only have rods) and if you get lucky enough to find a school of certain fish. I doubt we'll ever see that tho, but i'd really like a multi-hook line so i could catch 3-4 fish at a time, like yield+ on other DoL :/

So by that logic, Botany and Miner should not have the higher yield abilities because they can make a retainer that harvests large sum of items for them.

No, by that logic its more efficient to use a FSH retainer because you only can fish a certain species out of a pool of many - unlike BTN and MIN that can target what they want to get specifically. The same way it works irl, yknow?

My point is, there are ways that IRL we get around not being able to get exactly what we want from fishing, I'm not saying the FSH retainer is bad, I'm just saying it's not an excuse to not give us Poseidon's charity or something of the sort

Miner and Botany also get a secondary weapon/tool; Where's fishing's offhand net?

We've asked for this for a long time. A Tacklebox is what a lot of fishers want, since it would not only add stats, but could be a place to store lures and bait, to un-clutter the inventory.

Botanist and Miners have it different however, Botany has Blessed Harvest I and II, Miner gets King's Yield I and II.

Please, all of this. Chum was a step in the right direction to help catch more fish easily, but it can be improved upon.

Nah, you just have to find the correct bait for the fish your trying to land.You want it to limit as many other fish as you can with it so that you zero in on the one you want. Its not hard, but it does take some homework.
