But I am curious to know these implications are. And if you're talking about the Crystal Tower?
Right, you're new here, so you've missed my (in)famous ranting. Yeah, pretty much.

During the Syrcus Tower quest intro, Doga makes it pretty clear that having a source of infinite energy to provide for their every want is what sent the Allagans into decline, eventually necessitating the resurrection of Emperor Xande in order to stave off their downfall.

Curiously, that outright stated connection is then omitted from the NOAH reports and, sure enough, the author of those very reports then decides at the end (with the help of the voices in his head) that the only thing that went wrong with the tower was that it wasn't used correctly, and that the correct use was... how they were using it before Xande was revived. Which by then everyone has entirely forgotten is precisely what started Allag's downward spiral to begin with.

In Final Fantasy III, the Cloud of Darkness can be called to the world by either a flood of darkness, or a flood of light. If it was called to Allag 5000 years ago by a flood of light, and then to the present by a flood of darkness, and now we want to... Wait a sec. Hold up there, catboy.

For me at least, there were giant warning sirens going off during that last scene that have so far come to nothing, as all present were too busy patting themselves on the back over how great the light is.
