Nevertheless, I think you're at fault too. You seem too fixated on Benediction but on trash pulls you don't need it in fact you shouldn't need it. If your normal heals can't offset the incoming damage, then a single or even 2 Benediction won't help much. The tank used Hollowed Ground which should have given you enough time to top her HP but it seems you missed your chance. You said the mobs were 20% HP so basically you managed to keep your tank alive for a good time and it seems to me that you derped here rather than your tank.
The Tank popped up Hallow Ground and I fully restore their HP, but when their Hallow Ground effect ended the mobs just hit hard and my heals couldn't keep up and I was using both Cure I and II. Also didn't have Presence of Mind CD up as well as it was down making my heal not as a fast.

The mobs continue to hit hard as a I think we had a BLM when they got down to 20% of their HP and then the Tank was killed while I was casting Cure II and the Tank died when I was just 0.5 seconds away from casting it. The Tank had about 40% and the Tank died within 2 - 3 but not a single mob was killed yet... all the enemies pulled from the start to the entrance of the boss room was still up.

Normally I can do big pull like this, but only if the Tank works together with me instead of being all Rambo.

tanks and healers are supposed to work together. It's not an obligation yet it is common sense. Still, you can't say that all tanks are like that ? I mean it's not like I defend that tank, but surely you know that this guy is among the very few to be like that ?

I'll join the majority here saying you got a bad tank. Like Razem, I've been tanking in MMO's for quite a while (Something like 11-12 years now.) and that behaviour's unacceptable in ANY MMO.

You -never- start just mass pulling without even asking if the healer's gonna be alright with it. 30 Seconds at the beginning of the dungeon to just ask in chat "Mind if I do large pulls?" will be worth it when you consider that just going ahead and pulling without checking may result in a LOT more time recovering from a wipe.

The fact that she had to pop Hallowed that soon into the run should have been a flag to THEM that something was up, or that they were taking ridiculous amounts of damage from something (ie: Should have checked their debuffs, positioning, etc...)

The OP was asking if this was acceptable/normal behaviour. O.o Unless you meant to reply to someone else in the thread, they weren't saying we're all like this. :P

OP, Sadly, it's the people behind the computer.

Be it Tank, Healer and DPS, I've seen them all. Somes are just.. [insert words here]

Luckily, it's not everyone in PUGs that behave this way.

No matter which group, I believe a fair warning at first about your status, or if you aren't ready yet, or do not like speed runs (Like I do) is mandatory.

It takes 2 mins to have a little chat with everyone before starting.. really I still don't understand the wants of rushing things.. when playing a game.

I will start with a heya ^^ and like yesterday, mentionned that Wanderer's Palace Hard was my first time (didn't want to do those 3, Qarn hard which now I find awesome, except the lame puzzle, and Sastasha Hard that I pray I wont ever have it again >.< )

Turns out that I'm blessed to have my GF playing a WHM and PLD, so we can switch and queue quicker.. I made her a Macro that tells that she's new, and same for buffs like stoneskin 2 and protect, to stand still ^^

we were 4 newbs in there yesterday. On our side, we watched a vid, but the real thing is different. We only had issues at the last boss, took us 3 times to down him, and my healer (GF) died, and so both DPS.

I was a DRK, I was lucky to pop up my Zombie-mode (Living Dead), and.. the boss died right before me, whew!

What a thrill this fight was! ^^

Don't worry, you will encounter good and bad people, just like real life, cause the game is not played by good NPCs, but by Humans behind their computers.

Sadly, it makes people to shun more the Duty Finder.

Wish you the best, and most important: Communicate, do your best, and.. Have fun!

I here ya my friend. Yet the title of the thread gave me the (wrong ?) impression that that specific tank might be a general idea of the actual tanks of FF14. Then again, it doesn't change the fact that like many in this thread that I agree that this tank was a bad one. I just didnt want that me and many good tanks to be categorized on that level

The problem is, you have so many people playing queue tank. They would rather be running dps and enjoy it but don't want to wait 45 minutes so they level a tank. It's the down side to the easy bake 2/1/1 system DF.

I wouldn't even bother to heal a shitty tank like that the second try. It's a game, not a freakin race =.=

I main Dragoon but when I play DRK I know better than to do stupid stuff like this, I never say a word and if the healer cannot heal past the big pulls then ill do lower pulls straight afterwards even if we don't die, slow and steady sometimes is the best option.
Bad tank being bad, If you really want to name and shame get a camcorder ready and do the dungeon run when the cam is ready to record then upload to Youtube with the persons name in the video, that's what I'd do to avoid getting banned from the forums.

I'm gonna have to agree here. A good tank doesn't run off without basic mitigation, and doing a pull that big in DF should be run by your healer first to see if they're comfortable with it. At the very least, check their gear while you wait for Protect and Stoneskin.

Running off like an idiot again after the initial failure just compounds it. If I wipe on that pull, I split it in half for the next attempt.

I always pop Hallowed Ground on that pull when I get it clear to the first boss. Same with the first pull in Brayflox. It gives the healer a few seconds worth of free space. A WHM can absolutely tear those pulls apart with Holy, but a lot of them won't do it unless I throw HG up because it's a lot of incoming damage and Holy is a slow cast, so it's several seconds for the initial stun to go off.
