As has been brought up multiple times in this thread, that's never been SE's reasoning. All of the interviews where they're asked about it, their concerns are about their software interacting with 3rd party software. As I mentioned earlier, there needs to be some way to measure costs vs ROI. That is irrelevant if SE decides to take the "moral highroad", so to speak. You can't measure the cost of possibly providing a negative environment for their game, if that's their concern. As in, it doesn't matter how much they could make if the value of maintaining a certain boundary within the game environment is more important to them.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
To be fair, I wasn't suggesting that was their reasoning, only that if maintaining the climate currently existing is valued to them then it's hard to put a $ figure on changing it.
Regardless, 3rd party software is kind of irrelevant to what's in the game right now. Being worried about another program interacting with theirs is not really a valid reason to exclude some feature within their own software. (well, I suppose in a different context it could be).
And I'm not saying you are wrong or anything, but it just doesn't make sense if they chose to not include a in-game parser simply because they were worried about 3rd party parsers. Which leads me to believe it's really about the environment they want to create/maintain for their players and their reputation as a company more so than being worried about what a 3rd party application can do.
