You're basically wanting the content to be balanced around not having a healer. If your healer dies/dc and you die, that's all working as intended, not a problem. You aren't supposed to be able to live through that.

Okay, then we should make healers and dps more squishy because if your tank dies, you shouldn't be able to make it through that, by your logic. But it happens all the time because "lolhealspam".

In what? Dungeons? Yeah you can live through dungeons with no tanks. Pretty much anything else? No, not really, unless they die right at a phase transition.
So what's left is dungeons. How does a healer even die in a dungeon if the tank is up? Seriously.
And if they dc, sorry, but stuff happens. If the guy in charge of keeping you alive falls off the edge of the server, then yeah you aren't gonna be alive. Rebalancing the game so that you can easily survive 4 man content with 3 people is a bit of a overreaction.
Balancing a game around anybody being able to dc at any random point and never being a problem is gonna make this game impossible to die in.

This would be so pointless. Physick isn't even enough to effectively heal at level 50 and above, and anything below level 50 can already be healed by a black mage without cleric stance.

Just have a Ninja in the party. He can help a bit with enmity management.

Malevicton pretty much said all there is to say about but I want to add one last thing:
Sadly, this will probably breed even more failing healers. Right now it's a question of "do we clear this dungeon/raid/trial/whatever or not?" depending on the healer's performance.
If he knows he can suck as much as he wants to, because others will make things be alright, there is no reason for him to try at all to fullfill his role.
Oh, and of course I refuse to become a back-up healer in the first place. I'm a dps, not a healer.
When I want to heal people, I play my AST, not BLM.

We already have enough SMNs trying to play sub tank and blms that think their cures effect fights without throwing this into the mix. Maybe if dps wasn't is such a sad state in this game it could work. But most of the times I see wipes, it's not really the healers fault anyway. It's people doing foolish things that almost any healer wouldnt keep up with.

Or how about we just leave things as they are.
