more so pricing. old event items are on average $3 but the odin mount i believe is around $25. i just doubt the mount itself will be thrown in because of the response to price for those who missed it. but this is only my own speculation, SE can do whatever they want and will do as they wish
Hm, aren't the costumes on average $5? At least he Eerie one was, 3.5 Euros or 5 USD (we have it a little cheaper I guess). The barding is $7 too, so they're not afraid to stray from the usual price tag. Regardless, no one's forcing them to price it at $25, nor would they be sane to do so. It clearly took a lot less effort to develop a broom mount than it did to develop the Odin mount. WoW too has mounts with varying prices.
It's fair because some players will never have an option to get some gear. The comment isn't made towards people who are at least proposing some kind of compromise, more towards the "Exclusive is exclusive so shut up" crowd. However, is it fair for some players who might not have even heard of the games existence to be barred from some set? I don't really see how it is, and I have a strong distaste for people who go "That's not fair" one moment then do a 180 and go "Life's not fair, get over it" in the same breath.
Plus like.. Long term rewards already exist in the game, they're called Veteran rewards, and currently there's zero sign of implementing previous event sets into them as a "Long term support". That's without getting into the semantics of how "Long term support" being connected to event items is certainly not true.
I'm not saying like.. Rehash the event yearly, I'm personally an advocate for new events (Holiday events staying within theme of course) each year, but I don't see how it'd be fair to cut them off from vanity sets. A similarly put "Thanks for the support, but you didn't start playing soon enough, lol" sorta deal
Nah, I specifically meant some how introducing some gear set that's exclusive to characters who don't have the FF13 sets. It's to put up a comparison towards the "Exclusive is exclusive. You missed it, get over it" crowd. I don't actually advocate for it, but I'm curious on what people, specifically that previous mention crowd, would do if such a thing would be implemented.
I don't care for "It's exclusive!! Get over it!" arguments, they're dull and come from usually come from a either a "I've got my special thing, so why should I care if you can't have it?" perspective or a "I don't care about it, so why are you?" perspective. The point is, if SE somehow managed to give everyone who didn't have the current exclusive gear something entirely new (Maybe to garner some loyalty to new players who are upset about missive out on past event!), would everyone be so keen on the "Exclusive is exclusive, get over it" arguments?
Basically nothing is different about them lol, and honestly I don't see why the preorder items aren't at least on the mogstation, and that's speaking as someone who could've gotten the Baron's stuff on three different accounts if I had more than one account to give it to (Long and awkward story lol). The event's occurred twice now into the games lifespan, if not introducing the event over again, there should be some way for new players to get it as well. For preorder items, why not introduce a craftable version that takes a crap ton of rare items that'd be a pain in the butt to all gather up and have like a "Forged" bit added to the name to still give a genuine "I preordered it!" feel to the original versions. For the Lightning event items, why not slap them onto the mogstation and just push them on some in game vendor during one of the year's various events?
I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization

Which I have explained is not my position. I rather SE do something new with the lightning theme items than rehashing the same old stuff. How about new lightning themed gear that builds off of the old sets? I much rather SE spend time and effort on implementing stuff all players, new and old, can enjoy.
Just rehashing the event every year is boring. Also, there is no reason to promote ff13 anymore. Putting the items in the cash shop undermines the grinding people did for the items, it's essentially pay to win. It sucked waiting around for fates to pop, and there were more than your average holiday event grind. It's not like there is an "on/off" switch at someone's desk to put these events back in the game.
It's better to have the dev team put effort into new events and new rewards than having to pander to every new player that missed out on a promo that has served it's purpose. Sheesh, the entitlement with people on these forums.
A-... Are you serious? I cannot take you seriously when you say things like that.
Also, do you honestly believe that reimplementing an event or throwing the event items on the cash shop takes even a fraction of the time it would take to implement new gear with an event to go along with it? No, it wouldn't. There will be a reason to promote FF13 whenever the 3rd parts for PC rolls around, but regardless of that, putting it up on the cash shop would practically be "free money" for them.
It's pedantic, but you know it's true. It took about 2-hrs to complete everything and grind out the tokens for all the weapons. Putting the items in the cash shop is buying the rewards for two hours of work.
Yes, I think it takes a bit more effort than people are estimating because they would probably have to test the old event to make sure it was compatible with the latest version of the game. Yes, new gear would take more effort, but it would also appeal to the entire population, not just players who missed the 1st set. So, there is a difference there.
There is still no reason to redo the event right now. When the PC release comes out, they will probably redo the event. That's the reason we probably haven't seen the rewards in the cash shop to begin with. People are just too damn impatient to wait and see.
No, I do not believe it to be true. It really bothers me when people mark anything as pay to win, do you not understand what that term means? I think you do. Pay for convenience is a very different thing than pay to win, now, these borders can overlap, but that would apply to buying items to increase the drop rate for Savage gear, not whatever this case. It took me time to level a cooking class to level 5 and craft 200+ fish for myself and a few friends, not two hours, but time. These items will be available in the cash shop next year, where is the difference there?
Testing would take what, an hour or two? Manually trigger the events and make sure it works, putting them into the Mogstation would be effortless. There is a difference there, but that does not null the argument. People would rather have new crafting gear sets rather than old recycled dungeon sets, but they went with recycled sets to save time. It's not "this or that", it's "this or nothing".
Well, first you would have to define what convenience is generally. What is convenience to some is not to others. If someone's end game is RP and glamours, then we are not talking convenience. ARe little back and forth over P2W is just semantics until we outline what some of these words actually mean.
You are assuming how long it would take to test this, and if they encountered any bugs (and they probably would with the latest version) it might take an entire day or more. I don't honestly know since I don't work for them.
I don't even use the sets in any of my glamour, they just sit in my storage collecting dust. I have no special snowflake attachment to these events or items. It's just ridiculous that people demand a dev team to look back for a handful of players when the entire mentality of these forums is much more collectivist in nature. Any dev time should go to pleasing the masses and not the minority right?
That one day spent rehashing an old event content for the small portion that really "need" these items could be spent on developing something else that ALL players could benefit from, like a hair style.
