I first went there as BLM, and considering how every healer I was with died at least once, causing tons of wipes throughout the course of me leveling my first class, I was kind of afraid what to expect when my AST reached the required level.
I went in there...and it was the smoothest run ever. I never had any trouble healing through the final boss, although I have to be honest and say that I conciously left SOME dps dead on the floor if they were failing so badly that the fight went smoother without them...but that's what I do in any fight, hard or not, so it doesn't hold any special meaning.
The mechanics of the fight are already pretty simple (move away if chained, don't stand in fire circles, evade horses). If some of them get removed, the fight is gonna become even more faceroll than it already is.

A good tip would be : don't rush to the free spots, bait the 2nd fire aoe on the ground onto the horses path then move to a free spot.

This. So much this. Especially once you are seeing consecutive horses and chains at the same time, this is almost necessary in my book. Just stand still a second and let the aoe's drop on the boss /then/ move. Sadly I do not see this done often but its made my life much easier.

I think in comparison to other bosses, there is quite a bit of spacial awareness required and it takes people off guard. I wouldn't say the mechanics are hard. It just requires you to pay attention and smacks you around pretty hard if you don't. It still one of my favorite dungeons but as a healer the chains are my greatest frustration. Accidents happen but most wipes I've had here are caused because I've already run from the middle to the side but the person I'm chained to hasn't budged. Ranged DPS have been the biggest offenders. I see a lot of them standing in back corners or near the dungeon entrance which forces their chain partner to do all the leg work. I think its just a habit. I know on my SMN and my WHM in most cases, I tend to keep a distance from most bosses but in this case it causes some issues. Though I think most healers know this, remember to prioritize yourself. If you are chained and due to a failure of a party member, yourself or just bad luck (both parties were super close to the edges and the chains won't break) it looks like its going to kill someone, heal yourself and let the other person die. Overall unless its the tank (....which come to think of it I've never been chained to the tank as a healer) better for a dps to die than you. Finish dodging then rez them if you can but don't die yourself trying to keep them alive because likelihood is that's a wipe. I think we get so used to babysitting health bars that its sometimes hard to make the judgement call to let someone die on purpose for the good of the group. But its saved me with bad parties a few times.

Yeah, I don't know why people don't do this, like Titan's WotL.

    Side note:

I also don't get why people don't do the same for Protean Wave in A3.

I actually just healed as SCH in this dungeon just yesterday with FCmates and I think I did great for my first run. We had no wipes which I'm happy for while I wiped once or twice in Solm Al and Aery. One FCmate did die a few times, but it was nothing I could handle. The other did tell me that I did excellent healing and MP management, so that was nice. So imo it is doable as healer, just will take practice, and I think I can see myself going in it more. I want that Unicolt~

For the chained both has to "swing" to their respective safe spots.
This is a large part of the problem. But the other part of the problem is frequently when I run this dungeon I have some strange half second delay on my spells. (or maybe Ive always had that delay and I just notice it that much more in this dungeon)
The thing that gets me more often than not is being chained to someone who constantly feels it is necessary to stand far from the group, thereby causing me to have to run to the far end of the room just to break the chain. By the time the chain is broken, its done so much dmg to me and the rest of the group hasn't been kept topped off that I now have to spam heal to get back to a safe level of HP on everyone before the next aoe gets tossed out, while dodging all the ponies and flaming spots. I dont normally have issues keeping my party healed, maybe its just people's placement/play styles that is messing me up.

As others have said, you have derp team mates that are ignoring mechanics. People that do that can make a lot of easy content extremely difficult.

How about working to get better if you're having trouble, instead of asking for them to remove mechanics. But alas that seems to be the trend on these forums. Every healer you talk to refuses to heal the vault? Yea OK..

I ran this dungeon both as a WHM and a SCH. I didn't really have a problem except that very first time(mostly because everyone was new in the party) and maybe when you got someone who thinks that he must get hit by everything and not bother to help kill the balls of flame which mean either a wipe or panic healing by me.
