I lost count how often this idea has been brought up but it appears to be in vain... nevertheless signed, this is needed!



To the ones saying "buuuut the amount of data stored..!!", I say:
The point is that the catalouge simply knows if you own the glamour rights to item xy or not. Things like dye, condition, spiritbond, etc. all do no longer have to be kept track of.
So in a way, it actually reduces the amount of data per character because I don't think I'm wrong when I say that most players have a pretty big stash of clothes stored somewhere (retainer or inventory) solely for glamour purposes. These items would be gone.
Also, like other said already, if I want glamour items from dungeons below 50, I just run them by myself and maybe with a friend for lvl 50 stuff. No newbie is gonna profit from me hunting for pretty lvl 15 armor anyways so it's not like a glamour catalouge would change that.
It could actually help the general ingame economy though - if all that's stored in the catalouge is the basic appearance of the piece, you still need prisms and colors, and assumingly a lot more than now, because more players would re-glamour their outfits if it wasn't such a hassle to do it like it is now.

Unsync and undersized... if I am going to go back to ANY dungeon from ARR, for glamour specifically, then I am not going through DF, and literally everyone I know isn't either... and I can bet most (yes, most, not all) other people would do the same. Whether it's solo or just with one other, if they're really craving that one dungeon drop from an ARR dungeon, for glamour, then this is how they get it nowadays.
However glamour options exist within places you cannot go undersized, to which you'll need to run with a party. The tabard example was just the first item that came to mind as I was making the post.

The catalouge would actually have a positive influence on that.
You need to run content many times to get all the items you want, especially if 7 other people are rolling on it (heck, it took me 2 full years to finally get the lvl 15 dps body despite hundreds and hundreds of runs).
So you'd have people doing content again they ignore now, like Crystal Tower. To anyone who still wants to clear that content, it is helpful if others are trying to fill up their catalouge. And even if some people don't come back because they filled up their catalouge completely (which, like I said, would likely take years with everyone else also rolling on items!), the situation wouldn't be different from now where people only revisit old content if they get anything special for it (exp, tomes, etc.).




That, Atoli, is actually a really good point. People do love collecting things. Having a checklist to fill out may prompt some users to go and run dungeons they'd otherwise not. Throw on some glamour hunter achievement and the achievement hunters will be doing the same!

And them specific places aren't getting queue pops, if you're referring to the CT, ST and WoD raids, as of right now what little pops they do get are all that are actually wanting to do them still.
Everything else can be undersized, unsync or solo managed, aside from Coil's case in which it's PF centric. What remains from the previous mentions is what keeps that stuff active, and that is... people leveling their classes.
So again, next to nobody is running content for glamours via DF.
You know I 200% agree with this topic, but then again how would SE sell retainer service lol?
Do you really believe the BS they are feeding you with a silver spoon? If they can do it with zodiac relic they can do it with other stuff too.It might only result in a few extra kilobytes of extra memory per character, but multiply that by the millions of characters saved on the servers, and it could easily add up to several extra gigabytes.
Depending on how SE handles there servers, this could either be a non-issue for server strain, or cause their servers to crash. Most servers on a server farm only run at about 10% of what they're capable of, running them higher costs more in terms of electricity used, extra cooling, and possibility for a spike in processes to crash the server.
This is all moot though if they decide to store glamour log locally, would just depend on if PS3/4 could handle the increased save file size.
Oh boy, this topic again! And once again likedI'm going to keep believing and just cover my ears about the data limitations!
